Welcome!! This is my journey ... come and share!

Updating dec, 2013:
Well, I lost that weight and kept it off for two or more years. And then I started not caring about that too much. So ... I gained it all back, plus some. So, here I am, newly committed, and seeking to lose Fifty pounds. Yup. I am here again, because SP is the best tool I know for tracking food and exercise, and making conscious decisions based on that information.

With the help of the wonderful tools here on sparkpeople, I lost 40+ pounds. I have kept it off, though my weight and my fitness level both change month to month. When my focus changes from my health, I notice!

It's important to me that I stay healthy and be able to do whatever I want to do. It makes me happy to exercise, and I love to cook and enjoy a delicious meal of my own making. I feel good when I fit into my clothes, and it's physcially uncomfortable when I don't! :)

I struggle to make exercise a routine, and some weeks are more successful than others. When I don't make time to eat healthy or to exercise, I try to remind myself: I'm worth it!

The Old Text I wrote when I started --- Not sure what to do with this yet. It helps to remind me, so I want to leave it where I can read it! :)

As with any worthwhile experience, my weight loss is not so much about the destination as it is about the journey. Since joining SparkPeople, I have learned sooooo much about healthy eating, dieting, and exercising. I faced uninformed/hurtful attitudes in myself head-on and I changed them. I learned about the wonderful world of fats, proteins and carbohydrates, and traveled the road down to increasing metabolism. I crossed paths with upbeat people along the way, and felt my life enriched by each encounter. I feel stronger, healthier, happier, and more capable. I still have much to learn ... and I expect to travel this road for a very long time!

My name, GreenieOne, is my word-symbol for a bunch of things ... starting, most concretely, with the good memories created by a family trip where we all wore matching green sweatshirts! ( I am the eldest, hence, Greenie-1)

Green matches my personal ethics too; the way I try to live my life. It's a deeply personal color: I prefer to be outdoors, I like plants, my eyes are green -- guess you could say I sorta "vibrate" to what is for me a very healing energy!! (but I like purple too, and peach, and blue, and ... lol!) My user name is one way I remind myself of what I can be.

Which reminds me ... I found SP in August of 2006. I cannot recommend it enough! I am so PROUD to say that 4 other family members have also joined, and that we have been able to share and learn together!

My Goals:
Learn healthy eating and exercise habits, and maintain them for EVER!

Align the person I THINK I am with the person I AM; cognizant of every blessing that IS my life.

Be as hokey as I want to be and love every minute of it.

My Program:
I began by simply tracking my food intake -- how eye-opening! Could I really be eating 2-3000 calories a day?!

I now make healthier choices: I eat to satisfy and I still LOVE the way food tastes! I'm enjoying a more *balanced* diet: My meals were primarily fats & carbs before. Now, I've added protein & cut back on fat. I have never felt better!!

I try to stay within the recommended calorie range of 1200-1550 calories. That's letting the weight come off slowly, allowing me time to get used to the new me!

Swimming is my first love for exercise. 3x a week = Goal Met! I do SP strength exercises every other day. One day is planned just to rest! :)

As I maintain instead of lose, my caloric intake increased to about 1400-1700 calories. That's taking some getting used to.
