June 3, 2009 - Even though I track my food on SPARK each day - it's still important for me to use my exchange list to make sure that I am eating in a balanced, healthy manner. The few days that I haven't used my little helper sheet put me at one end or the other of my calorie range and I didn't have all the nutrients etc. that I am watching.

Planning out my meals once a week - is SO vital to me! I don't really do anything complicated . . . I really just plan the evening meal ahead of time . . . jot it down, move stuff from the freezer to the fridge, and make sure I have all the pantry items needed. I keep plenty of good food at work so breakfast, lunch, and snacks take care of themselves. The evenings have been my trouble times - for whatever reason - and the plan ahead method sure works for me!

I have upped my Curves workouts to 4 times a week most weeks. I have earned enough CurvesCash to get a free t-shirt that should arrive soon - YEAH! I got a free tee at 100 workouts as well! I am also walking a 30 minute segment twice a week now. OH - and we are going to be at a hotel this weekend (anniversary) so I will be in the pool for 3 or 4 swimming sessions - can't wait!

A co-worker and I talk about well rounded, healthy living some and hubby has become more interested in an active, healthy lifestyle - but most of my networking, information and support comes from you SPARKsters . . . . THANKS!

May 12, 2009 - WOW! I just completed a dailySpark article on "5 Easy Ways to Reduce Your Risk for Type 2 Diabetes by 90%" (I saved it to my favorites - check it out!)

One of my top reasons for starting my healthy living adventure (and joining SPARK) is to prevent diabetes - it's encouraging to know that even little changes can make a BIG difference!

April 15, 2009 - got real with myself about what I look like, how I feel, and my overall health (mental, emotional, spiritual, physical, financial). I didn't like what I saw in the mirror or in myself and decided to do something about it!

I found my 'exhange type' food plan on the Mayo Clinic website and designed a little daily food tracker tool to carry with me. I have used it EVERY day since (pat on the back for myself)! It's great for keeping me on track with balanced healthy eating.

I purchase sale veggies, fruits and meats each week and build my meals around them. I am planning out my meals once a week - by Sunday evening. Who knew that this one positive action would have so many benefits - financial, emotional and physical? More on that in future posts!

For my cardio and strength training, I returned to Curves. I have been a member for a little over a year and I have lost a few pounds and a few inches but, lacked consistency. So, I have renewed that commitment - going at least 3 times a week now. Really, there is no reason not to go . . . it's close to work, never crowded and 3 workouts a week = $10 CurvesCash! I am also walking a 30 minutes segment at least once a week (usually with the dogs).

As far as a support network goes . . . a co-worker and I talk about well rounded, healthy living frequently now. I do log on to the Curves site message board a couple of times a week but SparkPeople is the best - THANKS!

Anyway, it's been a great couple of weeks! I am already feeling better and sleeping better. And, 6 pounds are gone! Even though May isn't even a week old, I'm planning and tracking and it looks like I'm set to meet or exceed all of my May goals - YEAH!
