I am on my slow journey back here to SP. Still haven't gotten the ok from the doc to start exercising again but I did start walking today and it feels GOOD !!! So back on the wagon I go.


I hope your day is filled with love & that your water bottle never be empty. May your turkey be juicy and your salad be colorful. I hope the sun will shine for your after dinner walk and your tummy not be bulging too badly.

Please say a prayer of Thanks & please also remember our soldiers that are stationed overseas this holiday season.



Hey everyone- I haven't been on here much but I am still alive !! I have cracked a vertebra in my back-while doing jumping jacks !!!! So now I can only walk-which is fine but I miss doing the jogging & more vigorous stuff. I have to let it heal though or I could have some REAL problems. I guess I should be blogging this . . .

HG ALERT: Lean Cuisine Recalls Almost 900,000 Pounds of Frozen Meals!

Heads up! Serious issue here. And while we warned you about this last week, it is definitely worth repeating. If you eat Lean Cuisine meals regularly (or have any in the freezer at all), you need to know that THREE different chicken meals have been recalled -- Café Classics Pesto Chicken with Bow Tie Pasta, Spa Cuisine Classics Chicken Mediterranean, and Dinnertime Selects Chicken Tuscan. Those meals are considered potentially dangerous because they may contain bits of hard blue plastic. The packages in question were distributed to retailers nationwide. Update: Scheduled for surgery on Dec 17th !!! Right before Christmas & a local 5 miler event !! Darn !!!

Tried to post a blog tonight using my old computer & it wouldn't do it !!! Dang !! It was funny too. I will rewrite it tomorrow using the other computer. Sorry !!


Some of you all know that I am in the process of doing a challenge on Nike + website. Well I challenged myself to run 25 miles in the month of October. I DID IT !! As of last night, I have done 27 miles and will keep on going just to see how many I can get for the rest of this month. I have similar goals set up for November & December too, but with more miles added on. YEAH !!
I am also seriously considering doing a 5 miler in December at Druid Hill Park. Not a 5K-a real 5 miler. I have been hitting the dreadmill so much that I have forgotten what it was like to run a lot outdoors. So for my past 2 runs, I went back outside. Whew-what a difference !! A real butt kicker !!

I can do it !! I will do it !!!



I have been mo jo in' on my running here lately. Going slow but increasing my distance a little bit at a time. I have to admit, that I am getting back into the groove of running and am SORT of liking it. (I can't fully admit to liking it because then my husband would be right AGAIN. Twice in one year is too much). So for now, I move. I try to move every day or definitely every other day. I run for at least 60 minutes at a time but at a slower pace so I don't totally impair myself. I am still a big person on a small frame and I think it surprises people to actually see me shuffling along. It is amazing what we can do once the wheels are set in motion. So while my scale isn't moving much-the inches are!!
I am so glad that I found SparkPeople. It is addictive. I have found inspiration, motivation, guidance and friendship in here. Not to mention all of the tools too. This is my safe place where I am not judged for the size shirt I wear!

YES !!!! My husband had finally made it back from Iraq. Now I can finally settle down and get some sleep at night now. He's still sleeping now but I feel the urge to do something active !! Never thought I would ever say that. I just had a 1/2 cord of wood delivered yesterday-so I guess I will go & start working on that.
I actually like moving now !!! Moving-still not so hot on running though!!

Hi. I am Debbie, a mother, wife, nurse and tired of being tired all of the time. I currently am dealing with hyperparathyroidism & am wiped out a lot. So in an effort to regain some health, hope and happiness, I have come here. I have tried practically every diet out there and I know that just getting up and moving everyday will help immensely. I am looking forward to getting healthier with everyone here !!
I actually like to exercise but outdoorsy stuff like hiking. I dislike running with a passion and especially the "dreadmill." Before having kids, my husband and I ran almost everyday 3-5 miles, so I was in great shape. However, being on bedrest for two pregnancies, back to back, did not help my weight at all. I am now at the heaviest I have ever been and to me it is embarrassing. I cannot drop the weight it seems, no matter what I do. I am tired of making promises to myself that "this will be the year I do it" This is the year !! This is the month !! This is the day !!

I have to learn patience. That is probably on of my biggest flaws. It is a limiting thing & I am especially hardest on myself. I know that is why previous diets have not worked. I give up instead of going on. So with my parathyroid problems, I have had to slow down some & work on the patience problem. Patience is a virtue.

Keep on exercising for at least 240 minutes a week-
that's a minimum !!!

Continue on my Virtual Walk to Ohio!!
Stay Motivated
Try not to get sick like I usually do every fall/winter

1. Get to goal weight-160 lbs before next summer.

6. Be there for my family a long, long time.

9. Actually go the beach & not feel like a beached whale

My Program:
Currently, I am walk/jogging about 12+ miles a week. I go slow but steady. I still don't like to run much but the cooler weather makes it way easier for me.

I still drink a lot of water-10-12 cups a day. I do still log my food and I watch and read labels now like crazy. I follow the guidelines set by SP as far as calories, fat, etc. I also am on a low oxilate diet because of the parathyroid problem.
