I joined SparkPeople in Feb 2011 and haven't looked back. My BMI has journeyed from Obese, through Overweight and finally into Healthy. My cholesterol and BP are back into healthy ranges and I've shed 50 pounds in the process. I've developed better eating habits (no more grazing), better exercise habits (as in, I actually do some!), and continue to try make it all a natural part of my life. I'm not there yet, but I'm working on it.

My goal now is to find some balance. I spent the better part of a year with my primary focus being to get to a healthy BMI. I achieved that goal.. but don't want to live a life where that's all there is. Maintaining is a CHALLENGE.. the goal is to meet that Challenge with a well-rounded life. Courage!

My Goals:
2015 - A few of my goals for this year:

- Maintaining a healthy BP and BMI - so my DH and I can enjoy an active and invigorating life together for many years to come.
- Continue exploring healthy new recipes and cooking formats, to keep meal time interesting and prevent the dreaded 'food rut.'
- Rekindle some long-forgotten loves.. like reading, painting, writing.
- Renew my interest in spirituality with regular meditation and inspirational readings. It helps to make me a happier and better-grounded person, and keeps me focused on the positive things life has to offer.
- Learn a language. I'm tired of being the stereo-typical American who can only speak English. I'd like to broaden my horizons a bit.

My Program:
Back to basics. A balance of Cardio and Strength Training 6 times a week.

Daily, I commit to the following:

- No food after 8pm.

Sundays are rest days, with the exception of 10 fitness minutes of any kind. The other six days I will:
- Wear my pedometer.. it's remarkably (one might even say 'stupidly') motivating.
- Complete a minimum of 30 min cardio.
- Complete six strength training workouts each week, each a minimum of 10 minutes; 2@ core, upper body, lower body. Due to neck and knee issues, this will be accomplished mainly through joint-friendly videos and DVDs.

- Drink at least 8 cups of water each day.
- Keep within Spark-provided nutrition counts.
- Always leave calories for dessert.

Current Mantra:
- Life is too short to follow someone else's path.

Other Information:
Happily married with three furry feline children of varying ages.

Latest Realization: Nothing tastes as good as thin feels. (But Sugar really gives it a run for it's money...!)
