Thanksgiving 2011 vs. Thanksgiving 2012. What a difference!
12/13/2012 - Me at 161.2 pounds, 32.1% body fat after a step class.
A non-scale victory: looking FABULOUS in a cocktail dress! (12/30/2012)

The Incredible Shrinking Woman
I started off at 285 pounds at the end of 2011, and reached my goal of losing 125 pounds on December 20, 2012. How did I do it? Eating like a thin person (whole grains, lean protein, non & lowfat dairy, fruits, vegetables and lots of water), and exercising an hour or two a day. Fortunately, as I went through this process, I found a lot of healthy foods that I enjoy eating and activities that I enjoy doing, especially running.

Although I have reached my weight loss goal, maintenance is quite the undertaking as well, though different than weight loss. That is why I stay active on SparkPeople, and yes, I still record my food and exercise daily in order to make sure that I stay on track and remain accountable so that I remain in my new body that I absolutely love!
The other thing I've done is set new goals. My new one? Reducing my fat percentage! This may mean losing a bit more weight as I reduce the fat on my body, but it means that I'll just be a leaner, not-so-meaner, exercise machine. :) I'd like to end up being at 25% body fat, which I believe is an obtainable goal. I also have fitness goals ahead of me as well (being able to do full burpees, get through a boot camp class without modifying any exercises, run a 10k race and run a half marathon) which I hope to accomplish in the next 6 months. Always strive for improvements! They're out there!

My Goals:
To be debt-free and maintain my weight loss and new healthy lifestyle.
I'm also currently training for my first half-marathon in March 2013.
My Program:
I am exercising 7 days a week for an hour or two a day (combination of strength, cardio and flexibility), keeping an eye on portion sizes and recording my food and water intake every day.
As I also recently became a proud owner of a Fitbit Ultra, that has also pushed me to be more active at work, so I do at least 25 flights of stairs a day at the office and push myself to take at least 20,000 steps per day.
I'm a food addict, so portioning is extremely important. My measuring spoons, cups and kitchen scale are my best friends, and plastic containers and recloseable bags are a godsend! I had Sparked to a 60 pound weight loss in 2010, so this is my second time with SP (my failure, NOT the program's!), but I know this is the time that will stick.
Although eating in social situations is still a struggle for me, I'm slowly but surely learning about keeping everything in moderation: an important thing to remember for someone who's been a compulsive overeater for
Personal Information:
Although I'm an East Coast girl at heart (used to live in New York, Massachusetts and Connecticut), I now live in Memphis, working as an accountant in the health care finance field. I live with my two cats, enjoy reading, writing, making a fool of myself at karaoke, traveling, and running.
Other Information:
I'm a HUGE Kevin Smith and Henry Rollins fan. Some authors I enjoy would be George R. R. Martin, James Patterson, Mario Puzo and Stephen King.
I also have two wonderful cats: Leela and Sugar Baby. They're getting up there in age, but they're still wonderful companions and they have really helped keep me sane through the years.
