Hello I am Amy from Denver, Colorado welcome to my Sparkpage.... I am a 22 year Hodgkin's Lymphoma Survivor and a 7 time small full-blown stroke survivor!

I have also joined the 5% Winter Challenge with the Awesome A Team. This will be my second 5% Challenge!

I am the Team Leader of the Managing Diabetes Group! and the WL (Weight Leader) for the 2019 Winter Awesome A Team!

1/31/2019: I now have to wear oxygen 24/7.

I have worked myself up to 90+ minutes of walking for cardio every morning and getting 90+ minutes of strength training. My favorite tool for strength training are the Resistance Bands.

I neglected myself for many years after the loss of my husband in 2001. I lived on a diet of chips and Mountain Dew. It was very hard stopping the chip and Mountain Dew habit. I have turned my mind around and I am now living a healthy lifestyle.

The 10 years that I neglected my body because at the time I just plain didn't care anymore about myself, unfortunately the self abuse has left me now with serious life threating diseases: COPD(Emphysema), Type 2 Diabetes, Chronic Kidney Disease, Heart Disease and Morbid Obesity. I was also diagosed with Gastroparesis, this is something I have had since my childhood and never knew I had a problem.For about a year I carried around self-pity. Just with the COPD(Emphysema) alone there is no cure and it progresses. I went to Pulmonary Rehab in 2015 and learned how I can slow down its progression, I rejoined Pulmonary Rehab in December 2018 to get refreshed and possibly new information this time around.

Lately have I been saying who says I am going to have my life cut short from COPD(Emphysema) or my other diseases I am going to win the battle with every single one of them! The BODY achieves what the MIND believes!

Biggest Loser 10 week Winter Snow More Excuses Challenge with the Crystal Tiger Team

5% Winter Challenge with the Awesome A Team

Pulmonary Rehabilitation 2 days a week

Following dietician advice for a Diabetic/CKD and heart healthy diet

Walk daily for at least 60 minutes

At least 30 minutes of strength training Sparkpeople workout videos 5 times a week

Resistance Band and dumbbell exercises

PT exercises 7 days a week, three times a day

Visualization and Motivational/Spiritual exercises

Pratice Gratitude

Reflect upon my days

Learn something new everyday

Plan my days and stay on track

Personal Information:
I am 49, single mother of 3, two sons 30&27 and a daughter 26, we have 4 cats ages 11, 3 and two that are 2. These will be the last cats will have as I somehow have developed a severe allergy to them.Our dog passed away on January 2nd, 2018 at the age of 12. I think he will be the last dog that I will have.I love to walk in the open space trails it is so peaceful just being in nature. I love reading and writing, embroidery, coloring and learning new things!

Other Information:
I am exploring as many self-employment options available to me. I sold Thirty-One for a year without much success. I sold Mary Kay for a year and a half with a lot of success, but had a very egotistic Sales Director and upline, as I don't like dealing with people like that I left the company in December 2018!
I have recently went to classes for Stock market investing and real estate investing, I am going to explore the real estate investing further.
I love volunteering my time for cancer and animal rescue charities.
