Update July 13, 2018

Well, it's been a year of trying to stay on track with healthy habits through an eye surgery AND a broken ankle AND a wedding! How did I do. Well....

Today is my first week with Weight Watchers. My bro has had great success so he has inspired me to give it a try. It's different for sure from what I've been doing in the past, at least the way I look at tracking. Even so, the support I get here at SP is something I couldn't do without, no matter the method!

Update June 2017

Like everyone else I challenge myself daily to be a healthier, more svelte me!! The after surgery weight is coming off slowly thanks to much more sensible eating. No more in between meal snacks, greatly lowering carbs, upping protein and fiber. Meals full of veggies and then early to bed. I'm feeling better and have made it into one-derland once again. Thanks as always to my wonderful team of inspiring ladies and also to my fiancee who supports me in my goals.

Update January 2017

Long overdue in updating this. Since I joined SP in 2013 I've lost 25 lbs. and regained all of them back. I can use the excuse of two major surgeries and long, inactive convalescences. Or I could say I'm older now (60), my metabolism has slowed and I can't move as fast as I used to. But WHATEVER! That's the past and future is up to me. I'm resetting my intention to get rid of that lumpy 25, and then some, so my remaining years will be healthier and active.

...and once again I have to recognize the support and friendship of my teammates whose daily wisdom and sharing of triumphs and setbacks has been immeasurable. xoxoxo

Update October 2015

If there was ever an advert for the positive side of cyerspace Spark People is a stellar example. I think all my wonderful teammates for their wonderful support.

My shape changed rather dramatically at first and I felt re-energized and more hopeful about my aging body. Since then it's been pretty much a set point that doesn't budge. I've had to learn more about how to stay active when limitations appear and also lots about the balance between nutrition, exercise, rest, a positive attitude and being of benefit to others.

I've given up the idea of being svelte and sleek again, at least in this lifetime, but I think we can all exude health and vitality no matter our age and circumstances. It's the attitude and the gratitude!

Best to you all and thanks!.... Cat

Update: September 2014 - SparkPeople - month 14

I never get bored of this place!!

This place of friendship, education, consciousness raising, respect, support, shared goal setting, and recognition for achieving steps forward. All for FREE for anyone with access to the internet and a desire.

The computer based tools and the Activity Tracker really keep you on track if you learn and use them rigorously. After some time it becomes part of your conscious habits and you start craving heirloom tomatoes instead of midnight leftover cake.

This is a re-training of the mind as well as the body. Who of us has not said "as I get older it's not possible or way harder to do some things anymore" -- when in actuality you very well could! (shout out to my teams here).

The knee pain diagnosed as "knee replacement candidate" 1.5 years ago has gone and I'm able to sit cross legged for meditation again. People tell me I don't resemble someone "my age." I've learned how to size my food and what nutrients I need every day to stay healthy. Joining the gym wasn't something I would have done on my own volition.

I am finally seeing my significant 26 year old pregnancy weight gain slowly but surely slipping away. Very awesome.

Today Im resetting my intention for further weight loss. Now that I am knocking at 180 Im going to reach 170. Its always slow going but Im feeling ready to push hard again.

Namaste to all you angels out there. Wishing everyone success. Fighting!!!!

July 20, 2013

Hi, my name is Cat and I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. I've been a SparkPerson since August 7, 2013. I'm feeling a shift towards a healthier me already.

My appetite has returned now that I'm not eating snacks (especially sugar), I'm cooking new recipes - food tastes so much better now that I have a better idea of what foods make me feel best - eating out much less (and eating much less when I eat out), and eating local produce and ethically grown animal protein. I'm challenged by my wonderful Spark Teams to look at myself in a more positive way by joining different challenges and just sharing a bit about my own struggles and successes. Thank you all for sharing your journeys with me too, checking in on my SparkPage and helping me to get familiar traveling around the Spark World!

Looking for a Fun Challenge this Summer? Want to get connected with a Team to support you through your Journey to a Healthier Lifestyle. If yes, then consider joining the BL Challenge that starts early June. Each week 11 teams of 24 Active, do fun nutritional and fitness challenges. The challenges promote a healthy lifestyle and If for some reason you cannot do a challenge then they are modified to meet your needs.
