Great source of fiber, protein... I use them often... but I do log them as all my food and keep track of calories, etc...
The real danger I see in fat free refried beans is that I want to put a bunch of cheese with them!
My son and his wife usually include a bit of refried beans with breakfast, very typical in parts of Mexico.. one hint his wife taught me is to lightly thin the beans with low fat milk.. makes them taste wonderful..... with a bit of cheese, chopped tomato and some salsa, the perfect accompaniment to a poached or fried egg.
I LOVE fat-free refried beans. I sometimes mix mine with some salsa and put them on baked gluten-free crackers and some low-fat cheddar cheese. It is a great snack and makes a great entree with some veggies.

when I worked at Del Taco, this is how they cooked their refried beans: dried pintos cooked in a pressure cooker with seasonings; mash using a high speed mixer.
that's it. Everything was made fresh daily at each location. Even the chips.
I wish Del Taco was still around in my area

They are good for you. I get the blackbeans and warm them in a skillet until they are soft, Then I smash them in with a wedge of laughing cow cheese.

they are a perfect choice for you. They are very filling, too. Just watch your overall calorie intake and you will be just fine.

Yes, you can work them into a good food plan. But you can do even better by cooking and whipping your own pintos without all the sodium. For convenience, the canned ones are fine. Just watch the portion and sodium.
Eat them.but I watch how much. In a taco salad, you can use at the base of the tortilla then add turkey meat and veggies or without the tortilla and plop on top of tne salad. Several other ways on the recipes on sp.

They are high in protein and fiber so I'd say they were good for you. There is nothing not ok to eat while on the spark plan, just practice moderation and proper portion control. This is a lifestyle change not a diet so it has to be something you can live with for the long haul. If you restrict certain foods you are doomed to fail.
