I'd say that depends on your current fitness level. If you're a beginner to strength training, I'd say 3 times a week to help build muscle. If you're more advanced, 1-2 times per week should cut it.

As far as when, the best time is whenever best works for you. But I'd make sure you do it at a time where you can put the most energy into your workout, because that's when you're really going to see results.

Most experts recommend resting your muscles 48-72 hours between ST sessions. Realistically, this implies 2-3 ST workouts per week.

Time of day is largely irrelevant to working out. Go with whatever fits best with your schedule. But whatever time of day you pick, I think it does help to aim at the same time of day each time - this helps build a routine of working out.

I do all my workouts at night - since I'm at work early in the morning it is the only time I can get it in and it is better to get it in at night than not at all so really it is all about being consistent and it working for you!

What time of day you do it doesn't matter; it's about when you can fit it in your schedule. Most people recommend a full-body program (you can do a good one with combo exercises in 30 mins or less) at least 2-3 times a week. YOu can do 1 time a week if you're REALLY focused and intense.

I sometimes strength train at night. I don't think it's as big a deal as cardio, which will affect sleep if its too late in the day and burns more calories throughout the day if you do it sooner,

Hi, I am wondering about when I should strength train and how often. I got some strength training in last week but with my new job, I realize it's going to be harder to schedule it in. I guess I am just going to have to re-organize what I do in the day/night and just fit in. So my question: should I exercise in the morning or night? and how many days a week?
