I don't see much of a splurge on your nutrition tracker. You ate mostly healthy and had some chicken nuggets from Mc Donalds and maybe the Kraft dinner if you don't typically eat it. I expected most of your day to be full of chips, chocolates and cupcakes. Although McD and KD aren't the most healthiest choices to make, they're not the worst either and fine once in awhile.

For myself, I usually incorporate small treats in moderations every day and spread them out throughout my week. I love my chocolate so I will have some dark chocolate chips on my oatmeal. Sometimes I make baked goods. I just try to keep 90% of the day healthy choices. I also usually have a *really* special treat 1x a week. Either a piece of cake when we go to my inlaws biweekly and lately a chocolate bar on my high calorie day. Rarely it's going out to restaurant for dinner with my husband but we don't go to restaurants very often. Maybe 2-4 times a year.

if i just pay attention to the number of calories i eat, i can eat junk and stay under, but i don't get the nutrients i need, so i don't do it for a full day, only for a meal and that is usually lunch. and that doesn't happen often.

You're probably malnourished today, then.

Say for example your range is 1200-1550 and you splurged on 800 calories of junk.

So you ate around 700 calories of "food" today. You got 700 calories of nutrition.

That's not healthy.

If you 'splurge', then let your range be blown. A calorie is a calorie only for weight, for health it's best to ensure you get at least your minimum from real healthy food choices, with splurges and treats on top, even if it blows the range.

So with the example numbers above, I'd have another 500 calories of healthy food for the day to bring it up to 1200 from real foods, and let the day's total be 2000.

I completely splurged today and ate junk food but somehow still stayed within my calorie range (barely.) Does this happen to anyone else?
