I think Sparks will be a big help to you. You know now that just shrinking your stomach didn't handle the true emotional ties that you have to food. There is so much support for you here. The articles will help you understand your addiction better. Unlike with alcohol addiction, where you stop drinking, you can't just stop eating. So it's about choices you make in your food and learning to burn calories by movement and exercise. Welcome, and I can't wait to hear from you in the future...when you tell us how much better you are feeling about yourself!!!

You made the decision that was right for YOU. No one sits in judgement. My brother in law had the same surgery ten years ago. He has struggled. I have tried weight watchers countless times. It didn't work for me because I viewed it as a diet. Spark People taught me it is a life style change. You will get here too. Love yourself and keep trying.

You are not alone, I had surgery over 7 years ago and have regained weight too. I am starting the Simple Diet this week to get back on track.

Track your food and do your fitness routines. This is a good place to get encouragement. Hang in there and good luck.

"Please dont hate me. "
Nobody here even knows you... why would you think we hate you?

Good luck in your journey!

I think you did a very smart and courageous thing to join a group like SP. We’ve all done things that we wish we hadn’t, but you are here to make things better for yourself. We have to try not to dwell on the past, but move forward to a more positive place.

There is so much help and info here, advice, recipes, motivation. Take it one step at a time, one day at a time (corny, right!), and you’ll look back on this as an important day. Post and ask questions, try to keep up with your Nutrition & Fitness Trackers (my fitness portion of this journery is on hold for the moment), and learn as much as you can.

All the best!

Please dont hate me. I have struggled my whole life with weight and at 298 lbs on this 5ft 3 frame 4yrs ago made the decision to have gastric bypass. I have wondered if I made the right decision lost about 110 lbs, but then when the stomach stretched so did my addiction come back. I am right back where I started, except this time when I eat, it leaves me quicker and digests quicker which in turn every 2 hrs or less no matter how much I eat I am hungry. I have gained 25 lbs back and the scale keeps climbing. I am so greatful to find sparkpeople. I truly believe it is an answer to a prayer. I am new to this site and is there anyone else out there that is also dealing with this I would love to hear from you .
