The only thing I can think of that's "calorie free" is WATER....if it's food, it has calories. Period.

Wow, I can't imagine how they could possibly make a tomato sauce with actual tomatoes in it, and have "no calories". And I can't imagine that it would taste anything like a "real" tomato sauce.

I've gotten into looking for products with the least amount of ingredients in them, and the least amount of stuff that I can't pronounce/ or that look like they maybe belong in a chemical experiment and not food.

It would be interesting if you came back and posted on how the stuff tastes-- so I hope you do!

I have found Walden's Farms to be a reliable company and the foods that I have tasted were good, but I have not tried the cal free but I will. Thanks for the link.

A label can say zero calories if the product has less than 5 calories PER SERVING. Their products are basically flavored extract, spices, and sometimes vinegar; xanthan gum (which is a thickener that acts kind of like gelatin but is made from a bean), and Splenda. If you make the serving size fairly small, it adds up to less than 5 calories so they can call it zero.

I can't eat the stuff, myself. Years ago I bought some "chocolate sauce" and had it in my refrigerator for about 5 years before I finally threw it out. Then last year I was at a store that had signs up all over saying that you could return any product if you didn't like it, no questions asked, so I tried the "peanut spread." It tasted EXACTLY the same as the chocolate sauce! It's just sort of sweet/sour, with maybe a very faint hint of the flavor it's supposed to be. When you look at the ingredients, all the products are made with the same stuff, just different amounts of water.

If you actually like it, it's not going to hurt you, but do make sure you only eat the serving size listed. It might have as much as 4 calories per serving, so if you eat a whole 32-serving jar, it does add up.

I found their nutrition info on their website. The link is below. It looks like their products do have zero calories.

I honestly prefer to eat real food if I chose to have a little barbecue sauce or peanut butter or whatever. THe fact that they take some real food ingredients and manage to make them zero calories makes me nervous.>

I'm afraid of things you eat that have no calories.....what's in them.besides..
chemicals, preservatives, and additives.
Maybe a splash of balsamic vinegar, some herbs, a spritz of olive oil isn't so bad
