I wish we could spot reduce, it would make things nice, but yes, we just have to keep up with the loss, and it will come. It is diet and patience and exercise!!!

The reason your arms are not responding to the training is because they can't. :) Fat loss is a total body process. As you reduce body fat overall, then your "bat wing" will start to reduce.

The reason for this is because your muscles draw their energy from the blood stream... not the surrounding fat stores. Doing training there will help improve the quality of the muscle, but won't reduce the fat.

As your body fat goes down, it will come. We all have our trouble spots that seem to hold on until the very end!

Like the PP said, you can't spot reduce so while triceps exercises will make your arms stronger, they won't reduce the amount of fat on your arms. Allover fat loss comes primarily from diet so concentrate on that. Best of luck!

I'm in the same boat! I'll flex to show off my biceps, and the backs just hang there, lol. (I get some definition when I flex the triceps, though!) Remember that as you continue to lose fat, things will slim up, and while you're building tricep muscle you can't really "spot tone" in that doing tricep exercises won't automatically shrink everything up. Keep doing the exercises so that when you DO lose the excess fat there, you'll have some strong arms to show off.

So for the past 5 months I've been working out hard with different combos of cardio and weight training. I've come a long way in my fitness and everything is tightening up nicely, except for the back of my arms!

I use numerous machines and hand weights and do a lot of dumbell work for my triceps, but I still cannot get them to slim down! I feel like its the only part of my body NOT responding to my training.

Has anyone else had this problem? And/or can anyone recommend anything for my triceps I might be missing?

thanksssssss :)
