It can be really difficult when you don't have complete control over what food options are available to you. I guess the flip side of this dilemma is that you don't have to expend a lot of energy to make the food (gotta look on the bright side!).

Since I'm guessing your dining hall has a pretty standard menu, you can try to plan ahead. Before you head to the dining hall, consider your options (maybe even track a few of the options so you know how they fit into your nutritional goals for the day). It's hard to give specific advice without knowing the options of the dining hall, but definitely don't feel like you have to limit yourself to salads. Try to find foods you enjoy that are still relatively healthy, and consider ways you could ask for substitutions that would make them healthier if you're still concerned. This would be a great opportunity to take an activist role on your campus to advocate for a larger variety of healthy food options for students!

No easy answers, but for me I know if I think ahead and plan out what I want to eat, it's easier to say "no" to the temptations. Don't feel like you have to always say no to dessert, but when you do partake, just choose one thing instead of having a plate full of sweets.

It's tough, but I'm sure you can do it! Good luck!

I'm a sophomore in college and I'm finding it hard to do well with my nutrition even if I get my workout in. I wake up every morning at 6am to work out but then as the day goes on my food choices still aren't that great, especially with all the sweets and desserts that surround me in the dining hall. I don't have access to a kitchen to cook my own meals and the choices in the dining hall aren't exactly healthy. I get tired of eating salad all the time. I also don't have a refrigerator to store healthy foods in my dorm room. I just feel helpless when it comes to the nutrition part of weight loss and I don't know what to do. Help!
