WOW, there is so much to take in! Right now I am trying to figure out everything nutrition tracker has to offer.

Next weekend, I am getting a treadmill and will start walking 30 minutes a day - 5 days a week. My son is putting together a folder of songs on the Ipod for me to walk to. I'm pretty pumped to get started! I live in the county and my roads aren't very safe for walking on - no sidewalks, posted speeds of 55, but we all know how well that works, a lot of free running dogs - and the list goes on.

I agree with the others as to focus on exercising, not necessarily a number. I would aim for 30 min of exercise 5 days a week and this would be at moderate pace. That should get you close to 1100 calorie burn. What activities do you plan on doing at home?

When I started out I walked the first 4 months of my fitness plan. I usually tried to walk for at least 30-45 min 4-5 days a week. That was a good start for me and then gradually added machines and weights at the gym.

A conservative estimate says we burn 100 calories per mile of walking. Five 2-mile walks would get you to 1000 calories. A brisk walk is approximately a 15-minute mile. That's five 30-minute workouts, or 2.5 hours for the week. Completely doable!

Definitely don't worry about the fitness goal your first week.

Do whatever exercise you want to do and track that. After a week, you'll see how many calories that's burned, and you can manually set that value as next week's goal.

If you've never exercised before, perhaps start with a 10 minute walk daily and see how you feel.

I agree with Bubble. Start off slow instead of trying to hit that kind of goal starting off. Don't burn out before you even get started.

The tracker just gives a number based on average calorie burn for however many times a week you said you would workout. It can be changed, and I can give you instructions if needed.

1000calories could be a lot to aim for your first week. I am struggling to meet 500 this week (out of routine, thanks gym holiday hours!!) and I like exercising. For the first few weeks I would just exercise and see how many calories you burn rather than aiming for a specific number. Try a few things out and see what you like to do.

Hello all,
I know "you" have the answers. I am trying once again to start this program. This time Ill try ti incorporate the fitness program. The trackers says I have to burn 960 calories. What do I have to do, at home, to accomplish this?
