The only thing I can suggest is to use the trackers. I find I do better when I'm tracking what I eat throughout the day. It keeps me accountable.
Set up some goals for yourself and start reading. You'll find so many people here who are amazing and so supportive.

Here is another tip: The weight didn't come on fast, nor is it going to go off fast. Aim to lose 1-3 pounds per week. Any more can be too much.
Figure out on SP site how many calories you need daily for your age, sex, weight, and activity level.
Get the OK from a physician to start exercising.
Once you get the OK to go, start walking. Everyone without knee and hip problems can walk.
Use SP videos for ideas and short workouts.

Welcome to SP. Hope it helps you as much as it did me. There are lots of tips on SP, here are a few that worked for me.
10 minutes a day of exercise three times a day is almost like working out 30 minutes.
Figure out what small change(s) you are willing to make for the rest of your life. Examples: Eat low fat dressing instead of Blue Cheese or full Ranch dressing. Substitute water for soda and juice drinks. Cut back or eliminate alcohol. Substitute light frozen desserts for ice cream.
Read 1-2 articles on SP daily to learn.
Read message boards and contribute to them. Keep asking questions and learning.
Track your exercise daily
Track your food intake daily.
You'll figure out many more, but this can get you started. Good luck!
I like to workout but with my busy schedule the shorter the workout the better, like 25-30 minute max. Does anybody want to join the team I created "Get fit in only 25 minutes a day Challenge group" http://teams.sparkpeople.com/t25challenge. com? The main goal of this group is basically to workout for 25 minutes at your highest intensity 5 days a week for 60 days total. It would be great if we can support each other and stay accountable through the challenge!

I'm starting to exercise now. I began Tuesday. I did 45 mins of aerobics Tuesday and Jillians 30 day shred yesterday. I forgot how out of shape I am.

Welcome to SparkPeople. This is a very supportive environment, and the tools on Spark are pretty helpful. I've lost about four and a half pounds in the past three weeks. From my experience here, the food tracker is by far the MVP on here. Exercise is important too, but if you're busy and feel limited, TRACK YOUR FOOD...even if it's not perfect or you overspend your calories. I feel like I've LEARNED so much with the food tracker. I'm a nurse, and I thought I was eating fairly healthy before, and it wasn't bad, but I was eating way too much for a person who sits behind a desk all day. I like the motivational items on this site too, but the food tracker for me has been the biggest help.

Im 29 years old a single mom to a wonderful little 4 year old son. I've battle with my weight all my life but I have never weigh as much as I do now. I'm recently having health issues where I have to lose weight. Ive started diet after diet and fail because of my motivation faied and my depression started.
