I'm on day three of an awful case of viral bronchitis and no exercise, not that I really feel like moving anyway. Not much to to but treat symptoms and wait it out. Knocked me on my butt in October as well. :-(

REDMOUNTAIN - It isn't so much whether you CAN do it that matters - it is whether you SHOULD! In my unqualified opinion, you should NOT be jogging while you are like that. I would even be questioning going for a walk, other than perhaps not at fast pace. You mention being fatigued easier and the coughing - both good reasons to give your body a wee bit of a break to get well.

I have a cold right now and lots of coughing. I find I get fatigued easier. I am walking mostly for exercise with a little jogging, but if I pace myself, I can exercise.

I had this same problem last week and decided to just rest up. No sense in running yourself down and not being able to work out for longer.

The standard is, any symptoms below the neck on should not work out and this includes chest congestion, with or without a fever. I hope you feel better soon.

I agree with everyone else. Take it easy until you are better.

If you're having difficulties breathing with your chest cold, then no you should not run. There is no point trying to exercise if you're hacking up a lung. Take it easy for a few days. You will not derail any of your long term efforts at good health or weight loss if a miss a couple of days exercise.

Part of living a healthy lifestyle is knowing when it's time to take things back a notch or two.

So, get plenty of rest and push those fluids. When you start feeling better, you can SLOWLY ease back into a routine. don't try to do too much too soon or you risk being sick for longer.

Listen to your body.

If you have a fever, definitely not. Let your body heal and recover. If it persists, you may want to see a doctor to ensure that you don't get an upper respiratory infection!
