Are you able to get some time out each day from your son? It sounds to me like there could almost be some resentment there (don't mean it in a nasty way) My nephew's stepson is severely autistic and I know the effect it had on his wife. She never got any time and suffered considerably as a result.

Have you asked your Dr or a Social Worker or Community Worker if there is respite help available to give you an hour or two out? This would give you a little time to do what YOU need to do, whether it be exercise, get your hair done, or blob out with a book. It will help to unstress you. Stress in itself seems to impact on our weight, too :-(

Sometimes things happen in our lives to impact on our ability to stay on the straight and narrow of this healthy lifestyle journey. I know I have experienced it many times with my (now late) husband's very poor health and frequent hospital admissions and appointments, and my 93yr old Stepfather's frequent hospital admissions and medical appointments, as well as my 91yr old mother to see to. We do the best we can with exercise in the time we can, and the rest of the time comes down ensuring that you chose your food wisely, also as much as possible.

Good luck,
Kris xxx

As the old song goes,"accentuate the positive and eliminate the negative". Give yourself credit for all the POSITIVE things you've been doing for yourself and don't beat yourself up because the scale isn't moving as fast as you'd like.

The fact that you've already taken off 39 pounds is fantastic !! Why aren't you losing more ? That's not an easy question to answer. The fact is this, as you lose weight, there will be weeks you don't lose. And that doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong. I blame the Biggest Loser and the late night infomercials. They have people convinced that the weight will come off fast as long as you do what they say. Well, weight loss isn't that easy. It never was. Weight loss is a slow steady process that takes time.

Obviously, having to take care of your son isn't an easy job either. There really is only so much a person can do. For now, if you need to take some time off from logging, that's okay. As long as you're mindful of your portions and eat as healthfully as you can, you won't regain any of the weight you've lose. I suspect that if you could reduce some of the stress you're experiencing, you would lose more. I'm a firm believer that stress is a neglected aspect of weight gain. If a person could reduce their stress, they'd automatically reduce their waistline.

For now, take whatever time you need to care for yourself and your family. Don't fret about trying to lose weight. Instead, just do your best to concentrate on making your day a bit healthier. You won't go backwards. You have to have a little faith in yourself that you will do the right thing.

Be kind to yourself as you would to others. You've lost 39 pounds, that really IS something to cheer about !!

I have all but given up losing any more weight at least till school starts. I am stressed and eating more, not eating right ( no time) and nto able to exercise like I need to because this kid is always, always there. If I get up early he is there. Byt he time he is in bed, I can do yoga but no time for cardio. It would be too late at night. I have been doing two cardio days at work ( the days I work are sat and sun) two strength training days with free wights and 4 days of yoga for 40 minutes ( power or vinyasa yoga) and 15 minutes of core work with that. I have gained two pounds and more than that I FEEL fatter. I swear I feel the fat in my stomach and face coming back with a vengance. I have been eating handfuls of this and that and not tracking it. So 39 ish pounds seems to be all I can lose for now. I do not want to gain any back. So I have set my calories for maintenance and am going to try to be diligent about tracking everything and see hwo this goes. I just cannot do any more with this kid being here always. He is 10 and HF autistic and his dad, my husband works weird hours, 5pm to 1am tues through friday then 1am to 9am on sunday night/monday morning. He doesn't give me a single break. Anyway, I lost 39ish pounds in 3.5 months. I just don't want to go backwards and this sumer vacation is killing me:(
