We recommend setting your weight loss goal at 1/2-1 lb per week (losing slowly so that you don't compromise your milk supply), then add 300-500 calories to the low and high ends of your range to account for nursing. You shouldn't need any more protein than a regular, healthy diet would require.
I am aware that as a nursing mother I need to alter my nutritional goals in order to maintain supply but am unsure what type / how much I should add. For some reason I was thinking I needed additional protein but am not certain. Does anyone know?
