thanks for the welcome. I am Italian/American (dual citizen) and my parents who are in their 80's live here in Italy. Husband and I took advantage of an early retirement plan so we moved here to be close to them, should they need help. Turns out my mom is a very stubborn woman and it will be hard to help her!
I am fluent in Italian but my husband isn't, that has not been fun. Even an online network at this point would be appreciated.
thanks again.

I'm new here and have had several huge lifestyle changes. I had a lapband installed 14 months ago....then I moved from my native NY to Italy (retirement). Life here is very very different and so many things require getting used to, including the food.
I take an antidepressant but here things have been so dicey. The biggest of all is no friends anymore. There is no possibility of returning to the US for now so I have to make the best of it.
The stress has caused me to not only make poor food choices (high carb mostly) but also drink more wine and martinis than are good for me, so of course my weight is at a standstill.
I had lost about 45 lbs with the lapband.
Stress has also caused a huge rift between me and my husband.
This post is my first step toward trying to take care of myself
