I am working with doc and a nutrionist. working on getting off all the meds which will help with some of the weight gain. so they say but will be slow because of the age. working on eating more, but need to have a lower fat diet. i tend to eat more carbs, because i dont like vegetables, as my family says i am a picky eater. Hopefully we will get it figured out soon.

With that few calories, from what I have read, your body would be in a starvation mode. In that condition your body starts using your muscle tissue as fuel. Your best bet is talk to a nutritionist.

People who really have deprived their body for years with lower calorie intakes, usually take about 4-8 weeks for stabilization.

However, you are entering our SP program at 200 pounds (based on your ticker), so I doubt that 800 calories has been your average intake---so your results will probably be somewhat faster.

If you really are experiencing signs of malnutrition---please see your doctor and ask for a referral to see a registered dietitian in your area for a complete assessment and intervention plan.

The weight gain you are experiencing might be water retention like Edema.

It is not REAL weight gain. It's simply not possible to gain that much weight on less than 1200 calories.

I also ate below 1200 for several years. The very best thing you can do right now is PUT THE SCALE away.

Seeing the number go up (when you aren't eating enough) is just going to sabotage your efforts.

Follow your meal plans and try to get to 1200 and then eventually your calorie range.

Everyone's body is different, so it's pretty much impossible to answer that question with any sort of accuracy.

I didn't even know it was possible to eat only 800 calories a day for your *entire* life and still be alive, let alone overweight. If that's really accurate, I'm guessing your metabolism is very different from the norm. Do you have any medical issues of some sort? I would get professional advice from a doctor and maybe get set up with a nutritionist who knows about your very specific situation.

i have always been an unhealthy eater due to that pressure training of youth. on average i have always eaten about 800 calories a day. I am now pushing myself to eat at least 1200 calories a day.. how long before my body and metabolism notices the change?
i have only been at 1200 calories for 3 days and i am up 1.5 #... it it takes weeks.. ill be up 30# in not time?
