None of us are perfect and we'd be pretty boring if we were. Do the best that we can, but if we eat too much that's okay and we shouldn't beat ourselves up. It's just get back to healty eating (and feeling better) at the next meal (or the next day) before a few pounds turn into a few dozen!

Have put on a few pounds since Thanksgiving. I have been exercising just not as much as I need to. I feel pretty good about myself today and I am getting it back on track. Told my SO everyday until I reach my short term goal. Send me some good vibes.

there will ALWAYS be a holiday, a birthday, a work function, etc. that we have to deal with. That's life.
I will say that I was pretty upset with my SIL. My BIL is very overweight. And unable to exercise due to a bad 4 wheeler accident. He's been making healthier choices and eating less. His daughter is doing the same. They have each lost at least 50 lbs. SIL told her DH her feelings were hurt because he didn't eat as much as he usually did for Christmas dinner. Seriously? He's working VERY hard to get some weight off...and she wants him to eat more?
personally I'd rather have a better chance to have him around for more years. But that's just me.

for future reference, compose some strategies, like:
- filling up on the healthy items - eating slowly - putting down your utensils between each mouthful - drink plenty of water
Don't let their behaviour influence yours, unless it's going to make you stronger

Actually after eating really badly Christmas day and yesterday I am now finding myself craving good foods again and feel much more motivated to work out. As others have said, this is a lifestyle not a quick fix, and having 1 or 2 days out of the whole year to pig out isn't going to ruin anything. As long as you don't continue being lazy and eating loads for more than a few days there's nothing to worry about. I for one am sick of all the food and chocolate! Back to eating better and exercising again today for me.
Holidays sure do knock the heck out of motivation but I knew it was coming(kinda like seeing the car behind you NOT slowing down and knowing there's no place to go) so even though I feel actually ill from all the "new "old" foods my mind is handling it with advise: Throw away or donate all those food gift baskets Drink more water pump up the exercise Look in the mirror (It's unbelievable how these foods are now actually toxic to my body) I look like I feel, AWFUL and its not a pretty sight : ) trust me! tis the season to find out just how strong our will powers are
Chillax. Your diet isn't ruined. It's a few days. The goal is to have more healthy choice days than unhealthy ones. I've made some pretty crummy eating choices between Christmas Eve and Yesterday, but I am by NO means giving up completely. This is a life thing, not a quick fix thing. Sometimes, life involves celebrating with food. :)
FOOD is the center of celebrating in our culture, it's a sign of wealth and properity. Some folks get offended when others don't indulge as if to say "screw you" to the host so pile on the plate and eat stupid slow, I did and the damage from Christmas Eve and then all day food eating on Christmas Dat amounted to 1.6 pound gain on the scale this morning. Right now I'm in the middle of lifting and now until New years' Eve I'll back on track.

I think the important thing is to get back on track as soon as possible and not let 1 or 2 days turn into 1 or 2 weeks or months of being off plan. And don't beat yourself up about those 1 or 2 days either! They are just a blip in a year of 365 days.

I pig out on the heathiest stuff on the table. At my house we always have a lot of steamed or raw vegetables. It's almost impossible to eat 3000 calories of Brocoli.
