Along the lines of SLIMMERKIWI's advice, I just have to say - drink to thirst, not an arbitrary number.

Without wishing to sound gross, what colour is your urine? IF it is clear, you can afford to drink LESS water. Ideally it should be a pale yellow.
There is no hard and fast rule that says we have to drink 8 cups of water a day - nothing based on science. You must also remember that we all get water from the food we eat - milk, tea, coffee, other drinks, tomatoes, lettuce, apples, soups, casseroles, and even CHEESE has a certain amount of water. OVERhydration can cause health problems, just as much as under-hydration can.
I was actually told by a Specialist to drink less, because I was getting up between 2 and 4 times a night to visit the loo. He asked what the colour of my urine was, and also knew I drank about 6 cups of fluid a day, AND I don't have a health condition that requires me to restrict!

I started to stop peeing so much about 2 months later. I does take a while, especially if you're a coffee drinker.

I have been trying to drink more water, but damn I have to pee every 1/2 hour now...how long before my body gets used to all the water?
