Thank you very much. I got brochitis at the beginning of August so by now I am deff cleared to workout again. The thing about the Jillian DVD was that the intensity is what drove me to continue it. I LOVED the results even after a week and that made me want to do it even more. Then I got sick and lost everything. I gained my weight that I lost, back.... I did the DVD for 20 days...almost through it...but I planned on doing it over again after the 30 days were up. In those 20 days I lost about 20 lbs. That was around a pound a day. It built up so much confidence. I am still in the same pant size as I was AFTER I lost the weight, it is just distributing itself in different areas now. I do need to get motivated to do it again and I am trying. I stopped eating the junk food in my house (although the cookies and fidge we get every christmas does not help) I started to tell myself that if I wanted to eat that cookie then I needed to work twice as hard to take it back off. I have been trying to have nutritional foods at all meals and snacks. I eat 5 to 6 small meals a day now. All of these meals are built around my goals and my trackers. I am doing well in every area except exercise. This has always been the case. I can get myself to eat right and I can stick to it, but I just cant get motivated to go for the walk or go for that jog. Im just lost.....

little steps at a time will help you. Don't knock yourself out if you have a set back but look at what you have done

Hi Kayla. First of all, I see this is your first message board post. Reaching out to others will help you on your journey to become healthier, so good for you to do this.

Sometimes, we are really rolling along, and then we hit a roadblock - like the bronchitis you faced. Have you been cleared for exercise from your doctor? If so, then you just need to start to build consistency again. If the Jillian Michael's workout is too intense, start with something else. Commit to ten minutes a day for the next two weeks. Walking, riding a bike, or a different workout might be just the thing to help you get back on track. Check with your local library for dvd's to try for free (you just need a library card), or look through workout plans on YouTube.

Try giving a reward if you meet your goal through to year end (like the ten minutes a day).

SparkPeople has a whole section on motivation. Have you seen it - there might be some helpful articles or ideas there for you.

Don't get frustrated. Roadblocks come all the time. We just need to figure out how to get over /around / through them.

Hope this helps,

A few months ago I had myself on a good workout/nutrition plan. I was sticking to it every day of the week. For 30 mins a day I was doing the Jillian Micheals 30 day shred and I was lossing weight at a good rate. I lost 2 pants sizes in 2 weeks. I was also sticking to my meal plans. But then one day I contracted bronchitis and I could not get through the video. I lost all of my motivation. I keep telling myself I am going to get back into it, but I just dont do it. I have not done the video since August. I need help. I have tried to think of things to motivate me, my family, my self-esteem. I even have a pair of my "dream" pants, but nothing seems to be working. Anyone have any suggestions. Thanks!
