You're definitely not alone. I showed an 8 pound jump in the scale-which really annoyed me because I'm so close to reaching my 100 pounds lost mark, but the thing is, it happens. I'm still going to work out tomorrow, and I'm eating within calorie range.

I had the same day as you Kim2260 I weighed myself yesterday and again today thinking I did so good I should be down 1/2lb. The scale showed I gained 3 lbs, WHAT!!! unfortunately I let it upset me and ate 2 cinnamon buns with creme cheese so now I feel like a complete failure. Seeing the response to your message makes me think I had something high in salt yesterday and I suspect the culprit was black olives. Soooo, if you promise to take it easy on yourself, I promise to try my best to take it easy on myself as well and do better tomorrow. Have a great night! emoticon

Don't worry ! What you're experiencing really is perfectly normal. Ever notice your weight goes up during TOM ? Most women tend to "gain" weight during their menstrual cycle. Is that a fat gain ? Nope. it's nothing more than a temporary water weight gain that passes in a few days. I can gain or lose as much as 3-4 pounds in a day because of water retention. So, don't beat yourself up because the scale went up two pounds. In order to really gain two pounds of fat would have required you to have eaten an extra 7,000+ calories on top of your normal intake. If you know you didn't eat that much extra food, then you know you didn't gain fat.

And well, now I need to have a TMI conversation. When is the last time you had a bowel movement ? Your waste products have weight. So, if you don't do a poop in the morning and weigh yourself, the physical weight of all the food you ate the day before IS still in your body. Try it some time. Weigh yourself before and after a bowel movement. You'll see a big change in your weight.

In short, this type of fluctuation is normal and nothing to worry about. Don't tie your emotions to the scale. there really is more to good health than a number that stares at us from between our toes in the morning.

You're fine.
