Also a DD! And not the perky kind, but the "I've nursed two babies (one for a brief period 11 years ago, the other for 21 months, ending a year and a half ago) and lost weight and gravity is kicking in" floppy kind! LOL! I have noticed that they "perked up" a bit when I started benching heavy....

As a fellow doubleD... I feel your pain. That part you can't make flat... not without surgery. ;) They'll go down a bit (I've gone down from a DDD to a DD) but they'll still be tig old bitties. ;)

It's good to get stronger regardless of where the fat burn happens for you. This way, if your son plays with your jiggly arms, you can flex your muscle and show him that mom's got her priorities straight: strong is the new skinny :)
LREID1969-I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. My 12 year old son plays with my arm jiggle too!

Yes, it can happen; it's just not something that's going to happen by working certain body parts to lose the fat. Strength exercise is a critical part of a healthy lifestyle. Strength training will make the fat you DO have look better! While I still have my "wings" a bit, my arms and shoulders look amazing because of the strength I've been doing.
Don't get discouraged. This isn't a race, and you won't be magically thin overnight. Just keep at it, and you'll start to see progress!

Continue doing strength but it's going to take losing overall bodyweight and strength to minimize the giggle.

I do not like my flabby arms. They jiggle and it doesn't make me giggle. My 13 yr. old son will play with me and make them jiggle at times. I just keep telling him, "I know they are fat and I know they are out of shape." I am now doing exercises and strength training to improve them.
MomOfTwins, genetics determines your shape. Once you get a good fat loss and you can try to build muscle more in certain areas than others to attempt to "change" your shape, but if you're naturally top heavy, yeah, you'll likely stay that way. I've lost 45 pounds over the past year, and my general shape hasn't changed at all. my measurement ratios are almost identical to the ratios I had when I was 45 pounds heavier, waist/hips wise (10 or so inche difference there). I've gone down maybe a cup size in my breasts (I actually wear the same cup size as I did before, but it's more comfortable, I have boob issues! lol!), but have gone down 2 band sizes.
It's definitely not "all for naught" as without ST exercises, your weight loss is just as likely to come from muscle as it is from fat, resulting in a "skinny fat" look. Genetics picks where the fat comes from. I have pretty nice arms, if I do say so myself, but still a teeny bit of jiggle there. However, my mid-section is an entirely different story! My body has decided it will hang on to that jiggle belly forever! ;) Fat loss really is an all over body process, but you can't pick where the fat comes off from. Keep up the ST, and you will eventually see the results you want. Plus, it feels good to be strong. So, so good. (At least for me.)

They definitely aren't "all for naught" b/c you're increasing strength and gaining muscle underneath that excess fat. The point was just that those exercises aren't specifically going to reduce the fat in that area.

so unless I do a diet that i am to reduce everywhere no matter how many arm exercises i do It will be all for naught. That is depressing.

Zorbs is correct. Eventually the fat will come from areas where you carry excess, but there's no way to target fat loss to specific areas of the body.
Hope that helps,

Getting rid of fat is a all body process that comes from proper nutrition and cardio, not attempting to do spot reducing exercises.

sounds like maybe adding some more exercises that focus on the triceps.. like tricep pushups, or maybe some tricep dips off back of chair.I'm sure you can find something on here that focuses on that area.. also, that darn area is a tough one,, sometimes its just some extra skin that you can do much with..
