I have had exercise increase the flow but not increase the cramps.

I actually have the opposite effect. When I have cramps & work out they either lessen or completely go away.

Agree w/everyone else. Exercise helps cramps, minor colds, and even back pain for me.

i find that eating clean and exercising regularly actually help me. My cramps (and I would have ones that land me in the fetal position regularly) are no longer bad. I can easily live through my PMS now without any OTC crap. (oh yeah, a good adjustment or two prior to my cycle works wonders too)

My legs get swollen a bit too but exercise definitely makes the menstrual cramps less painful.

I had something similar happen a few months ago. Thursday was my 'big workout' day. I would walk 5-6 miles, do some p90x ST, and without fail I would get a period Thursday night - every week. It would last 5-10 days like normal period. This happened for a few months and I finally went to the doctor. For me it was a coincidence. Thursday is still the day my period will start, but now it is just once a month. My gyno did check me for EVERYTHING (chlamydia, gonorrhea, AIDS, etc) and they were all negative. So there was no reason for mine, but you should definitely get checked.

Could be your system getting used to the workout if you haven't done so in a long time. I find working out does increase the flow but as everyone else has mentioned, activity eases the cramps. Do keep an eye on it though

For me exercise help cramps. That fact that you had unexpected cramps and bleeding is worrisome to me. Please see your doctor if possible.

Cramps and bleeding when it is not your period could be nothing or it could be a sign of something. I'd check with your doctor, especially if you haven't seen a gyno in a while.

I concur with the other posters. I have severe menstrual cramps and exercise really lessens the discomfort.

Agree with the others...exercise always helps me get over cramps...though it's hard to get motivated to do it when the bad ones hit!

mine usually get better if I do some cardio...
its hard to push myself to do it, but afterwards I do feel far better.

I'm a pretty big person, and I went for a walk today with a friend. We walked about 1 1/2 miles and it took about 40 minutes. When we got back i started having the worst menstrual cramps and bleeding. Has anyone else ever had this happen?
