Hate it! I have REAL friends that I talk to in person...not virtual ones. My life is my own--private!

Love that I can keep up with friends and family I don't see much. Hate that I waste so much time on it. ;)

"love it or hate it" ... it almost fits in the category of 'not even wrong' ... and I'm not sure it's a matter of "love it and hate it," either.

I've often been torn between going in 'whole hog' with FB or withdrawing to a minimum. I've had an account since it's early months, and it's hard to imagine not having one ... only a few relatively close friends *don't* use it. My brother shut his account down the other day and I can only think, in a way, "good for him." As we discussed, too often we take FB 'contact' -- being able to see pictures of people or updates, etc. -- as being *in contact* with people, which is absurd.

The techy side of me is fascinated by what FB does and how they do it, how they solve problems, etc. But at the same time I'm disappointed in all the wheel-reinventing ... things that are like blogs but less expressive, things like .plan files and the 'finger' utility Unix machines, things like email but more limited, and so on.

Love and hate it! Love to connect with my friends and family, but it's a total time-suck and people share WAY too much info.

Love it 99 % of the time.

I wish that it had been around 20 years ago. My friends are scattered all over the world and it is an important tool for me for maintaining relationships that are important to me.

Mostly love it, but I very strongly dislike all the political rantings of certain individuals...

Love some things about it -- like seeing snippets of the day-to-day lives of some far-flung friends and family. But really can do without things like the mindless (and endless) political ranting, and the constant posts from certain people who use it as a new forum for their personal drama. My huband just taught me how to take people off my news feed though -- and I have a number of candidates in mind...

I like it. Especially with all of the new privacy and filter settings. Now I can see only what I really want to see and pass up all the drama and such from those that seem to have to "facebook filter" as I say. It is a good way for me to keep in touch with family and friends who aren't local. Though I do believe that social networking and tech stuff is causing a problem in that people know how to interact virtually but the ability to communicate and interact with those in real life is not what it used to be.

LOVE it!!! When my grandson was born 6 years ago and lives 1500 miles away, my son told me if I wanted to see all the pictures I would need to open a facebook account. What a blessing is has been!!! I see and hear so much more about my kids and grandkids than I ever would have without it. I agree it can also be a terrible thing, especially for teenagers that bully each other. But it's like TV or anything else if you don't like something, just turn it off or unfriend them. Just remember when you comment or post a photo on FB, it's like putting it in the newspaper.....everyone will see it!

Hate it too - too stalker-ish for my comfort level, didn't appreciate so-called "friends" posting pictures of my on my page so I closed my account (or whatever it's called) and haven't missed a bit.

I don't use FB very much.

as in real life, when things get political or preachy I find something else that needs to be done. See ya...bye!

I've never played any of the games. I do play some computer games, but never bothered with the ones on FB.

Oh I failed to mention one of my friends I was friends with since 7th grade stopped calling me as often, when I asked her why she never calls, she says she sees me on facebook, that left me with a bad feeling. I dropped her as a friend from fb and my life since. She was a no show at my daughter's wedding, fine maybe she had legit reason, or she lied. I called her on the wedding day she said she had to work, but she said she would try her best to make the reception, three days prior she swore that she would go, she had three pontential guests one a date, one a sister, and one a friend. I think the date didn't want to go and so she didn't show. She never called afterwards, but once I moved her from fb one month after wedding with no calls to converse with my about my daughter's wedding she texted me on cell phone saying she thinks her niece accidentally removed me from fb, I never responded back.

Neither. There's moments where people seem to have the NEED for attention and there are times when it's nice connecting with family from other states

Both. I love it for family, hate it for old friends. I removed everyone but family on Monday. I am 45 ,my old classmates are too and they still feel the need to take a photo of an alcoholic drink like they barely turned 21, so immature and dumb. One has a son who has a special needs so she gets so mad when people use the word "retard" on their page as a silly word to another, but she calls people names all the time. I hate the word retard too, but you cannot expect that word to be not used when you are calling elderly woman in line in front on you at Starbucks as you text on facebook she is an old hag because she is slow in moving, that is just being a hypocrite,. I find facebook a place to just be nosey, I think old friends just want to see what you look like, how you live and how many kids you have etc. and then ignore you. I think some want to look popular when they have hundreds and hundreds of people as friends. I had 122 I am down to about 24 all family and a few friend considered so.....The good side is family. I get to see what friends my 17 year old has on her page and how she converses with them. I get to see thee cutest photos my older daughter posts of my grandson, herself, and my SIL. I get to see extended family and see what interest they have and what they are up to.

To me, FaceBook is like a room full of different conversations and like in real life I either stay and participate or just walk away.

FaceBook, it's good old porch talking fun!!!
