Congratulations on losing 40 pounds !!

What you're experiencing really is perfectly normal. One less than perfect day or weekend of eating WILL NOT make or break your healthy lifestyle. Yes, there are going to be days you eat more than others. Yes, there are going to be days you want to eat more than others and don't care that you're eating too much. As long as don't eat like that every single day, you'll be fine.

There is a notion that once a person loses weight, they can go back to their old habits and eat whatever they want. That is a misconception. In order to take the weight off and keep it off, we must be mindful of what we eat. we must watch our portion sizes and we must get some regular exercise. However, that doesn't mean we can't have some fun once in a while.

You're a human being, not a machine. You don't have to be perfect to be healthy. But once again, as long as this doesn't happen every single day or weekend, you really will be okay.
It's when those bad habits start creeping back in that the weight starts creeping back up.

Moderation, not deprivation.

Congratulations on the 21 lb. gone.

No, it's not 'wrong,' but you may want to reconsider how you are living your life in general. If you feel that your week was 'freedom,' maybe you are being too strict with yourself normally. After all, you'll need some version of 'taking care' for the rest of your life; if it feels like prison, then it probably won't work for the long run.

I found that I needed to slow my desired rate of weight loss down so that I don't feel deprived. In fact, 'freedom' like you describe would now mean I wouldn't feel well b/c I;d have eaten more than my body is comfortable processing. Sure, I won't win any 'biggest loser' contests, but I also don't expect to 'fall off the wagon' or 'fail,' either.

Matter of mindset more than actual calories. Guilt is a poor companion for a life.

I wish you success.

I agree - we have all been there - done that! You are doing soooo well with your weight-loss - interrupting your journey for one week won't hurt. I interrupted mine for a full year after losing the first 50lb. I did it on purpose, but still ate sensibly and used the nutrition tracker so that I wasn't going silly on food - I only gained a couple lb in that time, and when I was ready, I started in the weight-loss mode again and reached my goal. I have been there for a long time now and maintaining.

This program isn't about deprivation in the least - life happens and there will ALWAYS be a celebration or gathering that you go to that you don't really have a lot of control over the food - other than portion control and mostly choosing the better options. However, there is no reason why you can't blow it on the odd occasion (I sure know I do and do it intentionally) so long as the majority of the time you stay on course.

Just relax and enjoy the moment :-)

Hey we've all been there and done that :) Nobody is perfect and you are bound to have those days or weeks where you just couldn't be bothered. The most important thing is that you get up and recognise it as a little lapse and put your healthy habits back in line.

I am currently on holiday and there is no way I am tracking here! I am trying to stay in my limits as much as possible but for the most part, I don't think one little holiday will be detrimental to my weightloss journey so long as I get back into it as soon as I get home (and of course don't overdo it).

You have done amazingly well so congratulate yourself and of course give yourself a little break from it all! Well done and congratulations!

well, I wouldn't say if I'm in a panic exactly but I just wanted to say that Halloween is very yummy. Tonight we had a party and I ate whatever I wanted. It was delicious. The past week I also ate over my weight watchers points and I didn't even bother to track because I knew it was over. I have no intention of stopping weight watchers and I didn't really feel out of control I did what I did on purpose. It was nice to eat what I wanted for a week. Is this ok? Has anyone else done this and then continued on with their healthy lifestyle? Can these kind of weeks be considered a part of a sustainable healthy lifestyle? I still ate salads and I didn't eat junkfood like chips or fast food but I definitely ate desserts and some delicious entrees! It's so easy to go over your weight watchers points, even eating healthy. So, I'm not blowing it am I ? This is not an indicator I've lost control right? I can stay in my points any old time I want to can't I ? Of course I know the answer is yes but I'm wondering from anyone else who has done this and not considered it a "bad" thing but who allows themself this freedom once in a while. I've lost 40 lbs since mid may and this is the first time I have gone a week without tracking because I knew it was that far over there was no point & just didn't want to care for a minute.
