Without any more information it's a bit difficult to offer any suggestions. If you are open to sharing a few details you might get better advice.

But in general, if your morning blood sugars are over 110 and you are not diagnosed as a diabetic you should see your doctor. High blood sugars can cause a lot of damage so you don't want to mess around with waiting.

If you are diabetic and have a nutrition/medication plan and have "fallen off the wagon" then it's time to get back on!

I was pre-diabetic (and pre stroke, heart attack etc) 100 pounds ago. My doctor put me on 1200 to 1400 calories a day with 15 grams of carbs per meal. No concentrated sugars, limited processed foods and no "white foods". No white bread, white rice, white potatoes etc. Everything had to be whole grain and minimally processed.

I also had to start exercising, increasing the amount to an hour a day. Target heart rate of 220 minus age for at least 30 minutes.

It took a while but it worked. After losing 20 pounds my BP and BS were in the normal range, after 40 pounds triglycerides and other fats were normal. Now at my goal weight, all my labs and vital signs are normal.

If I eat late, my blood sugars are higher than usual. I try not to eat after 7:30, but it doesn't always work. If they stay elevated or if they're really high, talk to your doctor of course.

For me, high might be 120 or even 130 if we go to a party with a very late dinner. Any higher than that, and I worry. Check yourself throughout the day on a high day....

Anyone having trouble w/blood sugars being elevated? Made changes but still having trouble.
I am walking my dog today and going to yoga. Just a little concerned. Hope your holidays were great!
