Beta blockers will prevent your heart rate from going over a certain heart rate, therefore, wearing a heart rate monitor will not offer much benefit as to determining your exercise intensity. This is when you will want to consider using the Talk Test or Rate of Perceived Exertion scale. (see article links below).

If you are concerned about the effects, you may want to contact your doc about this.

recently iv been put on beta blockers and now want to start an exercise regime again. my doc says i can but im a bit worried. is anybody else on beta blockers and if so can you tell me if they effect your exercise levels? and is there anything i need to know?? thanks x
