bicep curls aren't the most effective exercise because it only works one muscle, the biceps and one joint, the elbow. Therefore it is an isolation exercise, as a previous poster stated.

There are other exercises, such as underhand rows, chin ups, that work the biceps as part of a compound multi joint movement. Those exercises give you far more bang for your buck than isolation moves and are also more functional to every day life.

the bicep curls is PART of the full body workout I'm doing.

Stop doing curls.

Seriously why do an isolation exercise? Do full body work it is far better for you than concentrating on biceps.

Does it hurt after multiple reps? Or as soon as you start?

I have started doing the Daily Method DVD

on the weights (I plan on getting smaller weights, starting with 5# is too much for me) when I curl my arms it hurts on the inside of my elbow where all the veins are.

anyone know what to do about this?
