My boyfriend and I occasionally get fast food for dinner when we are broke, tired, and have no groceries, and there are options that I can make work at most any place as long as they have nutritional info posted. I will typically default to Taco Bell and get the Fresco chicken soft tacos, or just normal crunchy tacos. Once in a while we'll get Subway, and I usually get a turkey sub. Sometimes we'll get Wendys and I'll just get a chicken sandwich, and ditch half the bun. It all depends on what mood we're in. This is only at dinner time though, and I have more calories to allot to this meal, which is why I will generally be able to make it work. I will get salad maybe 3x a year. I don't really eat them because they don't satisfy me, and I hate low cal/low fat dressings. I would rather eat chicken or hamburger patties and throw away the bun than suffer through a salad that I can't truly enjoy. It's all about what you like, and what works for you. If you always leave 600-700 calories for dinner, you have more options than someone who only eats 400. Obviously, don't eat fast food every day lol, but once in a while it's not going to derail your weight loss.

If you enjoy eating at fast food places and don't want to give them up, just yet... consider buying this book. It's called Eat This, Not That. it's a book that will help a person make healthier choices when eating at fast food places. You can see an example of it here.

Taco time has a few salads that are full of veggies and low calories. And they are pretty good!

My doctor tells me that if I want to eat at a fast food restaurant I just need to make healthier choices which I try to do. You can get the meat grilled and can ask them to substitute the fries with a side salad or fruit and ask for no mayo or no cheese.

I agree with Yojulez - Chipotle would be my first choice. I love their bowls and the fact that they now offer brown rice in addition to white rice. I might add that I can usually get two meals out of one bowl, so it's pretty economical for me as well.

I think you can find healthyish options at any fast food places. My personal favorite is Chipotle. They use "real" ingredients that come from good sources, and you can build your meal to suit your needs. I get bowls there. The burrito tortillas have 300 calories so it's not worth it.

Also, Spark has made this dining out guide to help you make good choices if you have to eat fast food.

They also have this article where Spark Staffers list their "on the go" food choices:

I LOVE Subway and my ability to tailor my meal to my nutritional needs. You can do the same thing with Moe's....if you like taco's and burritos...they use all fresh ingredients and if you go to their website, you can actually build what you want to eat and see how many calories and nutrients it will have. Unlike many fast food places, you can see all the ingredients and tell them what to put on. Of course, there is no drive-thru....but you can take it to go, of course!

I try to stay away from fast food places and if I do, I try to go with salads but since I do eat tacos at home anyway, I will eat at some taco places but not Taco Bell! Stick with salads, baked potatoes, and veggies. The problem with not only fast food restaurants but restaurants in general, is the salt and fat content is much higher than if you cooked the dish at home.

In looking at different foods at various fast food joints, it seems to me the best place to indulge is at Mighty Taco with their chicken tacos. Any other suggestions from the gallery?
