I haven't personally tried it, but my friend's mother did. She lost a good bit of weight after adding it to her plan, but the ... "greasy anal leakage" they speak about is no lie. She said she often had to wear an adult diaper to keep it at least somewhat under control, especially while at work. On the Alli plan somewhere it tells you there's some number limit to how much fat you can take in in one day and not have the leakage, but it's a lie. You can eat any amount and still have leakage.

Put me in the camp of "no anal leakage!" I can't imagine how that side effect is worth the trouble. Some people think diarrhea is a bonus when they are trying to lose weight, but it interferes with the nutrients your body needs to thrive. I also believe trying diet pills screws with your metabolism.

My DH tried them and they haven't done a thing. And that's two bottles later! I figure when a diet pill comes with instructions that include the words "...when taken along with a course of diet and exercise..." that's what is really helping you lose the weight. The pill is just a placebo.
And to have a pill that lets you eat greasy burgers and then give you a case of the "poos"...what the heck is that teaching you? Until you take full responsibility of what goes into your mouth the weight loss won't happen.

I'm not about to put something in my body thats lists "anal leakage" as a side effect. Besides.....Alli just absorbs SOME of the fat you eat (or keeps you from absorbing it I should say) so why not just eat a lower fat diet and save all that money?
I took them for a while and didn't have any problems. I don't eat fast foods and was careful about staying within the recommended fat intake.
I stopped taking them because I read that they interfered with my thyroid medication.
My weight loss hasn't slowed since I stopped taking them, so I figured that I don't really need them.

If you follow the diet as it says, you wont have accidents. I am using them some. I usually forget, but I'm watching what I eat. Not following the instruction booklet when you get them will make you go poo-poo.
My dad tried alli pills and he'd go to Wendy's everyday and its not like he ate healthy, he ate a hamburger adn fries, etc. so it gave him the poo poos.
I work at McDonalds but I am eating the Oatmeal, parfaits, salads, etc. so I have no problem.
I started in April 2010 and stayed with it till Ocotober 10 and then went off for 4 months and back on a two weeks ago.

I wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot pole. The company that produces this pill claims that it helps people lose an additional percentage of weight (as opposed to those who diet and exercise without taking Alli). Well, exercising more and eating better would do the same thing....

I took it a while back. I didn't really lose enough for it to be worth the cost. Plus, no matter how little fat I ate, I still had embarrassing "accidents". Then, there were reports of it causing liver damage. Not worth it to me!

I've been taking Alli twice a day for five months and I feel it has really helped. I have not had any "accidents" but I also don't over do the fat in my diet - that's what causes the problems you read about. I definitely think it has helped me drop extra pounds.
I peeked at your nutrition tracker, and Alli wouldn't do anything for you. You really are on a low-fat diet already. Forget treatment effects, forget any side effects; it just wouldn't help. Alli works by blocking "up to 25%" of fat. That means for most people it's more like 15%. But let's imagine it happened to work exactly perfectly for you, as well as it did for the absolutely luckiest individual in any of their tests. Most days you only eat about 360 calories' worth of fat, and often it's less. That means Alli could at best save you 90 calories a day. That works out to about 120 pills to lose one pound. I don't know how much Alli costs right now, but I think 120 pills is about $100. Even if you have the money to spend, there are lots of other things you could do with $100 that would help you lose a lot more than one pound!
My suggestion would be that you calculate how much 3 months' worth of Alli would cost, and spend that amount on something you have been wanting for a while but haven't bought because it seemed "frivolous." You could get a fabulous heart rate monitor AND a great MP3 player for that amount, or a good exercise bike, or a decent treadmill, or two pairs of top-of-the-line running shoes. You could hire a personal trainer or have several appointments with a registered dietitian. Really, the possibilities are endless-- all more fun AND more effective than Alli pills.
No, not something I would take. But, I'm curious to know, if you're already on a lowfat diet, exactly what would the pills do? I thought they worked by stopping the absorption of fat. Your body needs some fat!

I am taking alli. I started taking them jan. 1 st I lost 13 lbs in jan. since you are already on a low fat diet u should not have any problems with "treatment effects." I have not had any problems not making it to the restroom on time but I do watch fat intake closley. hope this helps.
