An ENT Dr. first told me I had it, and prescribed something but I didn't take it. A few years later, I started gagging, especially if I bent over. This time, after being told again that I had acid reflux, I took the medicine.

If I miss a pill, I start gagging or may get nauseous. I have no other symptoms.

Acid reflux can damage your esophagus, and lead to Barrett's Esophagus, which can lead to cancer.

Me. I had no symptoms of reflux, but it showed up on a barrium swallow I had because of an unrelated injury to my esophagus. My doctor thought I should take something as a preventative. (I take the generic version of Prilosec.) Chronic irritation of the esophagus from acid may be a contributing factor to esophageal cancer and I didn't see any reasons to take chances.

I was told I had GERD but no real symptoms. Dr. prescribed some potent antacid (which I never took). Then he scheduled me to have my gall bladder out. Which I never did. That was 10 yrs. ago. I'm fine. Oh, I had originally seen the Dr. for a sore throat - - it wasn't strep & he said it was from stomach acid issues??

Yes you can have acid refux also known as a hiatal hernia but they has to be diagnosed from a scope test known as an egd. How did he come by with your diagnosis.

Has anyone here been told by their doctor that they have acid reflux but really do not have any symptoms at all and are taking Pepsid that the doctor prescribed?
