I workout at the gym, and if I am coughing or sneezing I stay away. No one wants my germs all over the gym, and it isn't fair for me to risk getting the other member sick.

I believe I would not workout sick but I would do a less strenuous form of movement.

Thanks to all who responded. I was feeling a little guilty for opting to take a day or two off to re-charge. SparkPeople members are the best! emoticon

The rule I've heard is no, if you have a chest cold, you shouldn't exercise, or at least not cardio. If you have a head cold, it's probably OK.

I had a bad chest cold/flu in January and there was just no way I could work out. All I wanted to do was crawl under the covers.

It depends on how you feel. I've worked out sick, and realized that I couldn't. Follow your body and realize, even though you might feel guilty or lazy, that it's better to skip a workout than make yourself worse.

I received my fitbit on the 15th and promptly developed a cold. :( I managed to get my 10,000 steps in without fail. I really wasn't knocked out for more than a couple days. I still have lots of crap coming out of my nose, but otherwise I'm feeling great and definitely on the mend. I've been able to really workout the whole time, I was just feeling tired for the first couple days of the cold.

It really just depends on the sickness and how it is affecting my body.

I will workout with a cold, but only if it's not too bad. Listen to your body. If it feels to hard, skip it! I have friends who seem to stay sick a lot longer because they won't skip a workout.

Drink plenty of water. Eat good, and get extra sleep. You'll be better in no time.

Do you do your scheduled cardio when you have a chest cold?
