Here's the kicker, he weighs 140#. emoticon

He has one of those metabolisms that burns calories like a freaking wildfire. And before you ask, yes, he can bench press *me*.

A question though, I know there's the 10% mileage guideline for running, is there something similar for weight training?

5 lbs in the context of 135 lbs is 3.7%. 5 lbs compared with 340 lbs (assuming he weighs 170 lbs) is just 1.5%. Of course he is going to add 5 lbs faster than you - it's a much smaller proportion.

Thanks! The physiological differences interest me just because it takes me about 2 weeks to add 5lbs to my max and he's still in the phase of adding 5lbs every lifting session. :P

I'll be happy when I can lift my body weight with all of the major muscle groups so 155lbs on squats, dead lifts, and bench presses, and a full pull up emoticon

A female can't compare her performance to a male. :) The gender differences are simply too much to make that a valid, helpful comparison! You're doing an amazing job. Don't compare yourself to your BF. :)

I weight about 155-160 so squat PR is 135. Its just interesting to me because my BF can squat/deadlift/bench press nearly 2 times his body weight and I'm just barely working up to body weight. Differences in the species I guess.

I can squat my bodyweight and deadlift more than my bodyweight. I weigh between 115-120; deadlift PR is 145 I believe. Just keep adding weight every week.

Who's done it on any exercise (deadlifts, squats, bench presses, etc)? I'm about 30lbs away from my body weight on squats and about halfway there on the other 2. How long did it take for you to get there? I'm just curious.
