I see a lot of threads posted in the cafe' that could be solved if only folks would take the time to read this article.

I sent this link out to my co-workers, it seems to be getting lots of positive responses!

Thanks for that! #4 was always my downfall in the past, I finally realized why just working out wasn't making a dent in the number on the scale. I've finally gotten the nutrition part of the equation :)

Yes I agree with the article you post and I have calorie cycled for years....I am always training for a race it seems. I think the link within the article regarding Nutrition is great....I printed it for my Quick Reference Binder. One of the most interesting thing I read is that I am drinking to little water even at 94 oz a day. To quote:

In order to know how much water your body needs a day, just multiply your lean body weight by .66. This would indicate how many ounces of water you need in a day.

Thanks so much for the post....actually I look specifically for your posts as they always contain a great nugget of fitness info!

LOL, it's laughable how many "get thin fast" posts there are in the cafe' and how very little helpful threads there are.

There just isn't a shortcut to losing weight.

with so many folks trying to get healthy I thought it'd be a good idea to post the article.

L4K - such a good point! I was shocked when I first learned how long it would take to burn off some of my favorite foods, like ben & jerry's, pizza, etc. Definitely can NOT exercise your way out of a bad diet!

Thank you! I this article is especially good as a reminder and knowledge for new members. It irritates me when people justify eating a doughnut by "I ran a mile today, I deserve it!" and THEN justify that extra bowl of pasta, and THEN justify adding a couple ounces of extra cheese... Exercise is amazing, but- Great bodies don't just happen in the gym, they happen in the kitchen!

I like the article.

So far as trying to lose weight with exercise and thinking that you can eat whatever so long as you exercise, I found out the hard way that you cannot exercise your way out of a diet with too many calories. You can eat 400 calories in a few minutes, but it'll take you an hour of cardio to burn it off.

Thanks for that!!! :) It's good to review, especially when one starts to maybe lose focus.

Very interesting article! A lot of it I already knew, but I appreciated the re-read, and having it all in one place. Thanks for posting this.

This article may clear up some serious misconceptions about this very topic.

Another "clarification" about health & fitness:
1.) Eating healthy is for weightloss
2.) Cardo is for a healthy heart
3.) Strength training is for lean muscle (which burns fat).

The culmination of all three is the only way to lifelong good health.
