I just picked up Dimplemeier 100% plus rye bread... it weighs about 5 lbs but soooo delicious. Its amazing how different real rye bread is compared to the rye (with the first ingredient typically being wheat, not rye) you typically find in the grocery store

Aww, thanks TECHMARM (I assume you're talking to me? Ignore me if you weren't.) I have baby minutes compared to some people around here, but I've earned 'em!

For me, I would rather eat sawdust than your average loaf of "whole grain" bread. I'm not going for "better" or "best", I'm going for what works with my lifestyle. Is Nature's Own Honey Wheat the absolute best thing for my body? No, it's not. There are tons of brands that are healthier, or better.

But I like the taste, it's far better than enriched white bread, and my husband and kids will eat it without complaint.

If I bring in a load of whole grain, it molds.

So it's better for my wallet and my family to skip it. :) YMMV.

I will third Ezekiel bread - I also keep it in the freezer (luckily my toaster has a 'defrost' setting. So good and filling! If you don't keep it in the freezer in my experience it grows mold within a week. (we don't eat tons of bread).

Ezeikel 4:9 bread, made by Food For Life, is awesome and made from grains like lentils, millet, wheatberries, and barley. I forget everything that is in it but you can find it at most natural food stores. Either in their bread section or the frozen section. I am impressed with this bread and it totally tastes nice, too. I actually bought a loaf in order to make tuna sandwiches for a picnic, but then I ate all the leftover bread in 2 days. Which is why I try not to buy it.

Whole wheat bread is still probably your best bet to assure that all the flour in the bread is coming from all the parts of the grain (in this case wheat).

Use whole wheat flour in your homemade bread, that is the solution.

OK I think I finally got it that whole grain breads are better than whole wheat and multi grain.

My questions:
1. What brand names make this and where do you buy it?
2. How can I bake whole grain bread if I'm using whole wheat flour?
