Good question! I don't mind high maintenance people if they are paying their own way...not expecting me to foot part of the bill! I foot part of the bill for people on social services and I do know some people who live pretty high and dress just so, etc., on social services. They bug me, but those with jobs to support their habits, not so much.

I sure don't like to hang around whiners or people who are always depressed, down and complaining.

I can't stand martyrs but don't very often have to be around any for any length of time. By martyrs I mean people who do a lot but then try to make you feel guilty because they do so much..try to make you feel sorry for them because they have crappy lives (through their own choices).

Kids, dogs, people I know and even people I don't know.......I have no tolerance for whiners!

Whiner - it's difficult to get away from a whiner.

I can ignore the martyr
High Maintenance is a matter of opinion - if someone has the money, it shouldn't be called HM

All of them. You won't find me for long around people like that.

All three drive me nuts. The whiner or the "Debbie Downer" is the worse of the three though.
High Maintenance shrieks of entitlement and the martyrs play the guilt game., but you can walk away from them. The whiner follows you to keep whining.

I have a high maintenance co-worker who is constantly whining about being dumped with everyone else's work. He's too full of himself to be a martyr. Don't get me wrong. He is a hard worker, but he does seem to enjoy having an audience when he complains.

I wish he were a martyr. Then I could tell him to go fall on his own sword.

this is how I mentally deal with whiners

unfortunately...I agree that most whiners have short term memories ...
just like the chicks in the cartoon.
but wouldn't you like to do this just once emoticon

The Whiner, they have what seems to be a great life. And nothing is ever good enough. Something is always wrong with it. When someone looking in on their life would think it was pretty swell.

I don't mind the high maintenance person because they make me up my game in the looks department. Unless they are needy high maintenance. Someone that can't do without me and is clingy is suffocating, is annoying.

Great Question! I am married to a High Maintenance person, that is also a Whiner and constant complainer, who sees himself as a Martyr if asked to help with anything!

Oh yeah, I just recently removed a TOXIC person from my life and I feel so much better.

I have to agree, we all have a little of the three in us. It is just up to us, how much we share with others. I also agree the worst are the toxic people who go out of their way to poison everything and everyone else. We can all do without them.

None of the three choices bothers me much because at one time or another, if truth be told, I think (opinion) we all have been these things.

Nobody's perfect.

My least favorite of the three traits is whining, though, lol.

But honestly, the only people that really bother me are toxic, mean or truly evil people.

Whiners, martyrs and high maintenance folk are just your average janes and joes.

The High Maintenance folks close to me are that way because of me, I'm an enabler so I feel I can't blame them because I am causing it, that said there's only two of them. As for colleagues, acquaintances & extended family members it doesn't bother me too much, I guess I'm use to it.

Martyrs - LOVE 'EM! They do all the work or assume all the responsibilities folks don't WANT to do so let 'em do it.

Whiners - It depends on who it is; if it's someone close to me then I always reply with a positive spin on their complaint, if it's someone not close to me I nod and agree in silent anguish. Naughty truth be told, I work with a hot young woman who whines all-the-time but she's eye-candy so she gets a pass.....I know, I'm despicable!

They all bug me. I have one in my life that gets on these kicks that annoying me. He'll find something that pisses him off and rant about it for weeks. I get so sick of hearing about it! Why can't he just let go already? Such whining drives me nuts.

Martyrs irk me b/c I don't like that view point. It's like nothing I do matters, because they have given so much! (Yeah right.) I get four hours of sleep and am tired (just an observation) and they jump in with how their situation is always worse. I feel for them, but don't belittle what I'm going through just b/c you think yours is worse.

Incessant chatterboxes and constant advice-givers aren't better. I like quiet sometimes. If I'm not talking, please don't run your mouth just to fill the silence. save it for when you actually have something to say. And free advice? No thanks. I'll let you know when I need your assistance with something. Please don't give me unsolicited advice about every aspect of my life. If you start advising me about how to keep my house clean, I'll invite you to be come over daily and do those things in my house.

I get bothered by all three also but the one that bothers me the most is the high maintenance. Mostly because I have one in my life very close to me and because I am a very low maintenance person we clash. Lets go already, can't you leave off your flash eyelashes today, we're only going to the grocery store!

All three of them drive me nuts, but I would have to say that the whiner would be worse on my list because the negative energy that they have eventually seeps into my energy.

Ever have the feeling you are living in a comedy show and someone forgot to tell you?

The Whiner, the Martyr, and the High Maintenance people drive me insane.
They aren't as bad as bullies, but they can stretch your patience to the extreme.
