Oatmeal! Perfect! I add everything else to my oats, I wonder why I didn't think of that on my own... And smoothies, I guess that's an easy one too. I knew this would be a good place to ask!

With 8 pears, making pear-sauce or pear butter I think they'd boil down enough that you could eat them in one or two sittings, eliminating the need for the sterilized jars to store them and stuff. You could also blend them into a smoothie, or put them on top of oatmeal, or just put them on top of toast! Mmmmmm I want pears now. :)

I made some steel cut oats in the slow cooker this weekend and added a few over-ripe pears and two mealy apples. Turned out yummy!
Just processing a chopped pear in the food processor will yield an applesauce consistency. No need to sterilize it into jars if you plan to eat it in the next few days. Chill it for a nice simple dessert.
Use above mentioned pear-sauce and add on top of angel food cake or eat it with graham crackers. Serve it to children as a side dish to their meal or as a snack.
Core/peel/slice/etc them and freeze them. Use them later in smoothies.
If all else fails, feed them to any wild animals around or use them for compost. HTH!
Anyone have any good suggestions for overripe pear usage? I found a few recipes for pear cake, but I was thinking maybe I should opt for a slightly less dessert-like option so I don't have to feel bad about eating it all....
