What and when you eat has no bearing on weight loss.

I'm like Bobbly Flay and I refuse to cut carbs ever and I don't always eat good carbs.

I find it makes no difference. Because you work late you probably start your mornings later than others so all of your meals are probably later than say someone like me who starts their day at 5 a.m.

Something about a late night quiet meal with my wife, lights on low, everyone else is asleep, we whisper. I love those meals. :-)

I agree that studies show when you eat has no bearing on weight loss/gain. But if you are in a plateau, then this is probably what is really bothering you. You might wish to try maintenance eating for a day or two then back to lower calories.

How much and what kind of carbohydrates you eat complex carbs....

To help you get off a plateau...
Skip all breads and pasta for a few days.... eat veggie berries which have the least impact on blood sugar and veggies as they can also hydrate you. Apples will also help as they tend to lessen the sugar load on our bloodstream. The soup should be homemade since it will have less sodium.

Try a spinach, strawberry and walnut more raw vagetables like radishes, grape tomatoes, cucumber, califlower, celery and baby carrots....

Good Luck!

If I'm eating that late, it's usually because I ate a big or late lunch and am still not that hungry. So I stick to scrambled eggs, a can of tuna, some canned soup, an english muffin pizza, a veggie burger....something like that.

I eat dinner and carbs every night around 8-9pm. In fact, I consume the majority of my calories in the evening. I hunt all day and feast at night. It never affected my weight loss.

The time of day you have your dinner does not really matter. Your body does not say "since it is after xx hour I will store all this food as fat". So don't stress about what time you eat.

The "hidden" part of your question I think is how to manage the later dinner time without going over your nutrition plan.

I like to batch cook on the weekends and pre-portion into serving size freezers boxes so I can just pull one out to heat up when it is late and I am hungry. Having a quick prepared meal ready really does help with not grabbing anything - and usually crap - just because it is there & I am too tired to cook.

You do not even have to batch cook, just make it a habit to set a serving aside from your regular meals to build variety in your freezer selections, so you don't get bored eating the same leftovers every single day.

If I haven't prepared, I use the microwave bags (I saw them on an episode of Biggest Loser) throw in some chicken and use a bag of premaid salad mix. Sometimes I just grab a mcdonalds side salad and add chicken, olives, or whatevers on hand and go with that. The side salads are low in calories and it makes a quick nutritous meal. Bonus: dispose of the bag and salad bowl and no dishes but the fork. I eat late too sometimes but at 9:00 I am not wanting to make an elaborate full course meal that will take an hour.

Yup, the time of day you eat doesn't matter. I consistently eat dinner after 8pm and it's not a problem. I'm actually eating dinner right now and it's 8:50pm :)

I eat late dinners all the time. My husband works late, and often doesn't get home until after 9pm. I don't worry about carbs or anything. It hasn't kept me from losing weight.

Your body doesn't know or care what time it is when you eat, so just eat a normal dinner that fits into your calorie range and you'll be fine.

I work until 9:00 pm some nights so what can I do about dinner that won't kill my diet plans. Should I nix carbs all together when I eat late? Help, I hit a plateau.
