What inspirational tales you all have to tell. The entire year before I started SP I lost abt 10 lbs from all-time high. Started SP Aug 2012 and have lost additional 15 lbs. Not bad considering health/mobility issue makes walking very hard and other exercise hard. Most importantly, since starting SP my clothes are a bit looser and I am eating much more healthy foods. Although I have food tracked on another program, SP food tracking has been very important as it keeps reminding me to stay on track with the healthier eating.
Thank you SP and all of you folks sharing the diet stories.

Since I have been on SP {just recently celebrated my 3rd year Sparkversary!~} ,I had lost the 20 lbs. {that was my goal} in 5 months, then maintained it for another 2 years., had a false pregnancy , was completely off SP for 8 mos. and gained half of it back. Since then I am making slow progress to get the pounds off and am now regularly tracking my food again and exercising more.
Note~ In my family , all our weight is in the stomach/belly area. I am tall [6'0"] so though it doesn't show in my photo, my scale does read "overweight" which is why I am here! I did lose the weight once and am confident I will lose it again!
Also note: What may seem "small potatoes"[pun intended!] in weight to one person is HUGE to another and believe me, the 10-20 pound range of wt.loss is HARD{for me]!

tracking my commute walks and workouts keeps me motivated!

I've stopped tracking my food only because i feel like i have a handle on it after weeks of monitoring my intake.

plus love getting the points! Lost 4lbs since coming back from ny (moved to japan)! considering i ate everything i could lol. I'm not having as much cravings as i used to also. emoticon

I've been on SP for 4 weeks aned have lost 8 pounds! I still have 13 to go! I am feeling great and have much more energy than before. I've "dieted" soooo many times before, but I am now doing it the right way. I'm eating between 1300-1400 calories per day and exercising 3X per week. I am also just making sure to get up and be more active throughout the day. I used to work out way more (5-7 days per week) and eat about 1000-1100 calories a day. My body was so tired out and honestly I was losing the same amount I am now. My body to hanging on to the calories for dear life- since I wasn't feeding myself enough! I am much more comfortable and happy this time. I'm happy to say that SP has helped me"figure it out" so that I can lose weight without feeling totally deprived, exhausted, and crabby. emoticon

I have been on SP consistently since January 3, 2013. Since then, I have lost 22 pounds. I stay within my Spark points for nutrition and exercise at least six days a week (walking, jogging, tae-bo, elliptical). I drink at least 80-90 ounces of water a day.

Wow, great thread and awesome stories of inspiration! I just finished week 4. Have lost 10 lb as of this morning with 28 to go, drinking at least 80 oz of water/day, walking daily 20-45 min., and my blood sugar has come down about 20 pts. I cannot say enough good about SP! I am active on here and make use of the resources.

I started in August 2012 and have so far lost 28 pounds, which i'm really pleased about. I generally have more energy and people are starting to comment that I've lost weight, which is nice. Things have slowed a bit since Christmas- it's been harder for me to get exercise in as it's dark after work (and I'm not really one for workout DVDs) but I am being philosophical and telling myself that it will be much easier once the clocks change (I'm in the UK). (only another 22 pounds to go!
Food-wise, the SparkPeople cookbook has revolutionised my life, along with the nutrition tracker- I finally understand what healthy eating looks like! And refusing ANY food offered to me at work has really helped too- and now people are used to it, they don't try to keep persuading me. One of my colleageus is new, and she just thinks I am someone with great willpower- she should have seen me a year ago!
And thanks to everyone on SP who's helped me get this far! Keep going! We can do it!

I am absolutely amazed how easy this has been for me.......After having my son. I tried Atkins, pseudo Atkins, nutri system, weight watchers, LA weightloss and had them all work, but difficult to sustain. Mind you, before I had my son I exercised like a mad woman and thought I watched what I ate.......and looked, now when I reflect on it, looked decent. I am now 25 heavier than at my pre-delivery, pregnancy weight!

But since joining on January 2nd I am now down 14lbs......granted I am quite a ways off from my goal, but I find that by tracking my food and drinking at least 64oz of water it has been quite easy, because I do not feel deprived and I choose how I want to "spend" my calories......I do find that I have a hard time getting all of the fiber I need and sometimes all of the protein. On most days I feel satiated in the lower end of my calorie needs...I realize that this weight loss will eventually slow down and I will have to probably change my diet in some fashion and also increase my exercise....but until then, I am going to keep tracking and using this great "free" service!

I re-joined in November, and have lost 2-4 lbs. The biggest change has been, since tracking I have learned to be honest with myself about how much I'm eating. I eat healthy, but consume too many calories for my goal.

It has been a reality check emoticon

I started at 224 in July and lost 23 lbs. It should be noted that I took an intermission for surgery. I am pleased with the results this summer and fall but now am at a stand still and need to take a look at my plan for the next few months.

About 35 pounds here!

I started in... 2009 I believe. I was 15 years old, and I joined SparkTeens. I started at 155 lbs, got down to 135 and maintained that for a couple years with on and off again sparking. Since coming back to this and being really serious about it, I'm down to 121 lbs and switching more to a maintenance mode :)

I don't look as my food as "diet food." I get told that it is all the time by my parents, siblings, and some friends, but I see how I eat as how I truly WANT to eat. I know that if I WANT some candy or a treat, it's okay- and I DO give myself some sugary treat each day because I LOVE it. But fruits, skim milk, lean proteins, whole grains- those are my STAPLES now instead of my "ugh, do I really have to eat this?" I still struggle with veggies- they aren't my favorite- but I now naturally lean towards food that have actual nutritional content, not just calories and macronutrients!

I lost 40 lbs over the course of 7.5 years (slowest weight loss in history, but a fun journey). During that time, I ran my first half marathon and followed-it-up with several more. I feel great (before and after on my Spark Page)

I joined Sp in June 2012 and have lost 7 lbs. I had lost 15 beforehand that but that took 2 years.

I take a heart med that slows my metabolism but I am one determined gal.

You "youngsters" lose more easily and I commend you on your hard work. Just know that it's easier to stay healthy now than try to get back to it later.

I have lost 80lbs since April 2010 a few ups and downs. Had a really bad kidney infection was in the hospital for 7days a year ago Nov and it put 15 lbs back on overnight seriously. Plus I went from walking and running several miles a week to barely able to get up a flight of stairs. You just gotta hang on for all your worth and don't lose sight of that goal!! I've knocked that 15lbs back off plus some extra and now within 10 lbs of my goal yea!!! Although I don't know if just me but it seems that last 10lbs is the hardest for me. I was within 5 lbs of it and just lost focus.

First day using Sparkpeople/first recorded weigh-in was January 9. Down 10 pounds as of this morning, total of 12 since Jan 1st. Seems fast, but... still over 60 to go...

More than just numbers on the scale though, my BIG progress has been in regaining perspective on portion sizes.

I joined in April 2012, did not track or stick with it..came back in June, tracked for 2 days and quit...gained 8 November 27th, right after Thanksgiving, and have lost 13.5 pounds so far. I am exercising regularly and feeling better than I have in a long time... the arthritis that was creeping into my hands and knees is essentially gone!

I went to the store today, found a 13 pound bag of cat food, carried it up and down the aisle, and felt pretty happy with my progress.

I have to give my FitBit credit for motivating me to move more. It's the best $100 bucks I ever spent!

I joined in March 2012. So far I've lost just under 40 pounds. I know that to many this won't seem like a lot for so much time but I have been able to eat and drink an amount I'm happy with and I'm pretty sure it's a lifestyle change I can stick with.
Tracking has been an enormous help, as has all of the information and support available on the site. In the early days when temptation hit hard I'd just log on and read things on this site until the cravings passed or it was time to eat my planned food. It still amazes me that it's free!

I joined in 2007. I ended up losing 100 lbs (though I lost the first 50 before joining SP) by mid-2008 and have spent the past ...5 years (sheesh!) trying to figure out how to keep it off, with mixed success. Lots of ups and downs, I'm sorry to say. "Never give up" is my motto.

I joined last summer and lost 6 pounds. Stopped my healthy habits/tracking and gained it back plus 3 more pounds with bad holiday eating. Re-started on Dec. 27 and lost 10 pounds. I have come to realize that this has to be a permanent part of my life, and I can't slip back into lazy habits. I hope to be a faithful sparker to avoid gaining back the weight, and hopefully lose about 12 more pounds too!

Jenni & Callme...WOW your in inspiration..after this I am going to check out your pages!

I also just weight loss efforts. This is the first week and my major goal was to quit my night snacking (Toast, cereal etc)...goal accomlished! Because I was tracking my food I could see that I was within my calorie range and could SEE the damage I would do with the night really motivated me. As a result I lost 3 lbs!

Now that I have overcome my night eating...this week is to make it to the gym on a regular basis.

We all have to vent once in awhile, this is the place to do it! :)

I joined January 29th, 2012, and have lost 94 pounds. I will hit 100 soon, and I told my husband champagne will be mandatory. There will always be set-backs along the way or times when we don't lose as much as we like, but you have to celebrate a little too when you reach those milestones.

I joined this site November 30, 2012. the first month was good for me. January was a lot of celebrating as I attended the President's Inauguaration and my birthday. Now I must get back on track as I am determined to lose the weight necessary for a healthier lifestyle and health issues.

I've had foot surgery the month I joined and was unable to exercise as needed. Now that part is over and another issue has come about (rotator cuff tear). Again I can not exercise as needed.

Sorry, the question was how have you been doing with diet and nutrition. Diet wise and nutrition I am okay. I guess this is my venting exercise for the day. Forgive me.

I just had to post this. I see so many of you who have lost considerable weight and I admire and salute you. I, though, am at the beginning of my weight-loss journey, as I joined SP on Jan. 14. I have now officially lost five pounds! I feel that I'm on my way, and in 25 more pounds I will have reached my goal.

This is tremendously satisfying and motivating.
