I agree with everyone here!

I have a friend (a former co-worker actually) who describes herself as "a compulsive eater in recovery". She's struggled with her weight in the past, but has gotten to a place where she's maintained a healthy weight for years. She watches what she eats, but focuses a lot on exercise and enjoying herself while doing it (hiking, biking, horseback riding, etc.). She's supportive and motivating, but knows when to back off and never scolds me when I opt to eat something I probably shouldn't or comments when I put on a few pounds. And when she compliments me, I know that she's being genuine. Although I weigh-in daily (as it keeps me honest), she doesn't; instead she focuses on how she feels and how her clothes fit. She's a good "weight loss buddy" and a great friend. I'm lucky to have her in my life.

I think it would have to be someone who is motivating, willing to be motivated, and doesn't think they have all the answers. A real give-and-taker, otherwise the process can be completely draining.

Communication. Me and my buddies check in pretty much every day via email or text. Just having a friend ask how I did every day keeps me accountable and motivated. I see a lot of posts with people asking for buddies and then I say I'll be there buddy and they never post again. Where'd they go!?

A good weight loss buddy would be someone who motivates me to keep keeping on. I have never had one.....

Any takers?
