Spot reducing doesn't exist. For a lot of people fat comes off of certain parts of the body slower than others. For me, I'll lose inches around my waist a lot faster than I'll lose inches around my shoulders or chest. Just stick to you calorie range and your strength training and cardio and it will come off eventually.

I also have a weight loss question. I've been losing some weight and have kinda started noticing, except in my arms. I have huge flabby arms. What is something I can do without having to spend any money??

I think 1400 is a good target. That way you will get enough calories but still lose weight. I think that 1800 it too high, unless you are trying to maintain.

I could be wrong but the 1200 is the amount for healthy weight loss. So if you burn more you get to eat more, but that shouldn't lower the base 1200 number because then you would either be 1. In an unhealthy weight loss range or 2. Your body will go into starvation mode because your calorie intake is too low. Also keep in mind that the calories you want to have before and after a workout are to maximize the benefits of the workout. So you want to have your body loaded on protein to build muscles after a workout and you want to have carbs to be able to fully work during your exercise program. So I guess in short, you need calories and if you are working out you need more calories for your body to function like a well oiled machine. emoticon

My daily caloric intake is 1200. Let's say I do an hour on the elliptical training netting about 600 calories. The daily caloric intake is then 1800. Why would they suggest that is total daily caloric? Wouldn't it make more sense to say that the daily caloric should be say 1400 for weight loss? Why would you eat all of the calories you burned? I don't get the math here.
