I'm getting married on In Nov 2013 and have a goal of 40lbs, I have had a bit of a slow start from what i'm used to. Mainly because before i would do fad diets and the weight would come off fast but coma back faster. I am trying to stay upbeat and do things the right way this time.

I am actually concerned I ordered my dress too soon because I have been told you can only take in a Dress 2 sizes and I hope to loose about 4 sizes... but I guess ill have to wait and see.

Good luck to everyone emoticon

I'm getting married on August 17, 2013 and I'd love to get in touch with other future brides for support & motivation!

I had a baby in November and I'm still trying to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight, then ideally 10lbs below that for the big day! I've lost 10lbs since January with WW but with 5 months to go, I want to step it up!

My current plan is tracking calories, 1 hour of walking a day and the Women's Health Wedding Workout DVD 5 x a week. I will modify my strategy and add in more exercise as I start to lose weight.

I will weigh in and post results every Friday!! Any other brides with me??

CW - 179.4
First GW - 160lbs (pre pregnancy weight)
Ultimate GW - 149lbs

I think you can definitely lose this much. You can safely lose about 2 pounds per week with diet and exercise so you should have plenty of time. Just eat healthy and exercise. One thing I've done is cut out all alcohol. I'm not a big drinker but alcohol is all empty calories so I've given it up for a while to really control my calorie intake. Good luck :)

I'm getting married April 14 and I can't believe how close it is! I'm well on my way to getting to the weight I want to be and my first dress fitting is next week. I've been eating healthy, exercising and doing meal replacements with homemade smoothies. It seems to work and they're delicious. Anyone else getting close to their wedding?

My fiance and I are getting married on July 6th 2013 on the OBX on North Carolina. So I'm only 285 days from our wedding! I have been a member of sparkpeople for ALONG time, I've fell off the bangwagon a couple of times though. The lowest weight i got to was in 2011 when i was 225 lbs. I went back up after a wrist injury to around 295. Im back down to around 266 looking to be around 220-215 on our wedding day.

I'm getting married June 23, 2013 and I'm about 8lbs away from my goal weight. My goal after that will be to tone up certain areas and maintain the weight loss!

congrats everyone :) my wedding is set for may 26, weekend. :) we're getting married on a beautiful covered bridge and our reception will be at a ski resort.

im 5'6, and currently 280. I've lost 60lbs since feb of this year...and i feel great. :) i think the best part of it all is that i finally weigh less then my fiance, whose 6'3ish and 285. :) i've never weighed less then him in the 6 years we've known each other. i feel like i'm on a cloud of excitement...and i'm going to continue with my journey.

I don't have an "end" goal in sight, but I've been saying since I started...I just want to look smoking hot in lingerie :) and I want to feel better. :) I am aiming for 100lb weight loss by december 31 of this year. :) It may sound selfish, but when I can stand in front of a mirror in lingerie, and know I look great...that's what I want. :)

Congrats on your engagement Sara!! I'm sure you"ll look beautiful on your wedding day no matter how much weight you lose (or don't lose). But maybe your fiance can join you in not dieting, but in changing to a 'healthier lifestyle." My fiance and I have started that and we support each other. We keep only healthy food in the house (other than a bag of Dove's for those intense chocolate cravings lol). Overall I feel better and have more energy.
Good luck! :)

Hello All! My name is Sara Liles and I just got engaged! I will soon enough be Sara Waite! :) I am so over weight. I weigh 307 and I am only 5'2. I am the biggest I have ever been. I was so much lighter when I first met Jeff. As in, 230. Not wonderful, but way less! I am really bummed about the way I look and feel so I know now it is time to make a change, plus I want to look THEBEST at my wedding :). My problem is I get very motivated for a while and then I get stressed out about wedding plans or I am currently in the process of buying a house, so all the stress that goes along with that as well. All I want to do is curl up on my couch with a good TV show and a reeces haha. No longer! I am a newbie to this site so I hope to continue to read success stories and have the support and motivation of the Sparkpeople family! Lets do this thing!

Hello all! My name is Stephanie Teixeira but soon to be "mrsstauffer". My fiance and I are getting married September of 2013 which is what compelled me to join sparkpeople again to stay motivated but mainly healthy and happy. I'm definitely battling to not be an emotional eater. And being engaged although is the happiest moments of my life, is very emotional! I feel like I'm constantly riding an emotional roller coaster. I found an amazing resource, a book called Emotionally Engaged. It really helps me separate and make sense about the transition into married life without having a pint of ice cream, a pie and whatever else I can find in the fridge. I hope this was helpful and I'm really excited to be happy and healthy for the year to come.

I'm in the same boat as you. 2nd wedding, weighing more than I did for my first. I haven't set a date yet, but my goal is to lose at least 1 dress size by the end of summer. I can't say "oh I want to lose X pounds" because then I'll get all stressed out with the number on the scale. I'm basing this experience more on how I look and feel.

Congrats to already losing 13lbs!! That's huge:)
Don't mind the guys we live with and the sweets they eat in front of us, they get to wear a black jacket to the wedding, and we have to wear a damn white dress;)
It was my "time of the month" this week and I felt horrific cravings! I got low-fat frozen yogurt, and then added chocolate pieces on top for my chocolate craving. It curbed it right away!
Keep going!

I'm also getting married in November 2013, and I couldn't be more excited...... well, unless I didn't have an extreme amount of weight to lose :( I'm highly motivated, but sometimes it's hard to stay there. I just wish I was someone who loved working out or running, but I have read that once it becomes habit you really do begin to enjoy it so hopefully that kicks in soon. I also am having a hard time fighting the urge to eat badly. I've lost 13 lbs in the past month, which is great, and I already feel so much better, so I'm trying to stay focused on the big picture rather than dwelling on how much i want to tear into the little debbies my fiancee has in the cabinet. He's being very supportive, but isn't quite motivated to start yet himself...... anyways, thanks for reading my rant! I think I'm partially moping because my time of the month is coming and i feel bloated and cravings are out of control.... lol. I actually feel better already getting this out to people who are likely going through the same things :)

We are getting married October 2013. I am aiming to lose 60 pounds by then. I have been really terrible at tracking what I do and holding myself accountable, but now that we've moved to a new apartment that is right next to a gym, I feel like I have to do better.

Any advice on how to stay motivated? And how is wedding planning coming along for everyone? I have to admit, I've hardly started.

Getting married July 2013! What a shock when I started trying on dresses. Good luck to us all :)

5/16/12 11:49 A

good luck. I am also getting married next summer and I had wedding dress shock when I tried dresses on yesterday, but I am committed to lose some weight not only to look good but to be healthier. The consultant told me not to panic because I bought a corset dress and to go ahead and order in the size I wear and they can alter it.. so I just need to make simple switches like I drink coffee with cream and sugar (65 calories) if I drink it black I can cut down 63 calories(2 calories) so it is just about making simple switches and healthier choices.. WE CAN DO THIS!

Good luck to you! That does sound like a great plan. If you ever feel like you still need an extra push; Dr. Fuhrman Eat For Health has been awesome for me. I started that before I started Sparkpeople and lost 8lbs in the first 8 days! There are a lot of vegan recipes so it is not for everyone... However, there are different levels for those who don't/won't follow a vegetarian plan. But he refers to his plan as "Nutritarian". It just focuses on healthy eating in general. Eat as much as you want in the fruit and vegetable category and limit other items. The recipes are awesome!
Congratulations on your engagement also! I just got engaged on Dec 31st and plan to get married in May 2013. So we are in the same boat.

Hi all . . .

I've been a member of for 4 years, but have not used it to the best of my advantage. Though not 'officially' engaged yet, my boyfriend and I are planning to get married next summer. I am at my heaviest ever, 235 lbs. Standing at 5'4", that is WAY TOO MUCH! Although I was 168 lbs for my 1st marriage, looking back at the pics, I could have done more to get my body in better shape than it was (yes, the arms were flabby & the butt was still kinda big!). I have 466 days til the BIG day & this will be the LAST time I walk down the aisle as a bride, so I'm taking action now! My goal is not so much HOW much I lose, but I'm stressing on getting healthier and most importantly, off the bp meds that I started taking a little over a year ago. My soon-to-be fiance is great, too, because when I announced that I wanted to lose 60 lbs before we get married, he just said if that's what I want to do. He loves me as I am and his only concern is my health, too. He's always there encouraging me & working with me to get both of us moving & on the right path to a healthier lifestyle.

So to jumpstart myself, I'm doing a few different things to help keep me motivated.

#1 - I have a wellness program at work and every year they have a weight loss/fitness contest. I got a team together to motivate me to get started.

#2 - I bought a program called Bridal Fat Blasting Boot Camp, which I am slowly incorporating since I have way more time than the 6 month program it offers.

#3 - A variety of workout programs. I located all my workout videos/dvds/books/programs so that I wouldn't get bored with doing the same workout all the time.

#4 - SPARK!!!! I am dedicating myself to tracking all that I can track.

So, there's a little about myself.
