I rarely eat veggies...and I certainly don't get NINE servings a day! emoticon I don't see myself ever eating that many veggies in a day. I'll eat more fruits than veggies in a day, or else take veggie supplements in multi-vitamin form (such as Five Alive).

Eat vegetables anyway.. Funny enough most of the people I have met with this horrible diasease and it is a real terror have a history of inheriting it from someone else in their family.. The person whom finds the direct to over ride the chromosome causes and answer why critical mutation in a protein involved in the recycling of damaged nerve cells happens will be a very rich person..

I read the abstract... important to note that it says "may" and not "can". ( But-- all the more reason to eat your vegetables!

...reports Kathryn C. Fitzgerald. Recent finding: People who ate foods with the most carotenoids were 25% less likely to develop the muscle-paralyzing disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) than people who ate the least.

The most beneficial carotenoids were beta-carotene, found in carrots, squash and sweet potatoes...and lutein, in dark green vegetables, such as kale and spinach. Aim for nine servings daily.
