I agree w/ the other girls , just go by whatever else works for you...pick a few streaks and try to stick to them. See which ones work best etc....and maybe try to only weigh when at the Dr.'s office perhaps?

I believe using a food scale is more important than a bathroom scale.

You can measure your progress in other ways.

Measure your hips, waist, chest, thigh and upper arm on a scheduled basis.

Track your workouts and get a streak going, that's a success you can measure.
Another streak for staying in calorie range.
Find a pair of pants that you can't button. Try them on once a week.
Track how many days you ate 5 servings of fruits and vegs.

I'm sure you will get lots of ideas.

I agree with avoid scales, or use only periodically. Other ways to measure success are how you feel and perhaps from time to time try on a tight pair of jeans and see how they fit. I own one and weighed about 1x month, so I didn't let the scale rule my days.

So I started this journey for the third time now, just a week ago. I have an issue though- I have no working scale! Or more correctly, I am beyond the max weight on my scale. LOL I know my starting weight because I was at the doctor's a few days before I started, so I know where I'm beginning. However, this is the very first time I'm having a go at this weight loss gig without weekly weigh-ins. I'm not sure how I feel about it so far. On one hand, the pressure of the scale is off, so I don't have that battle to constantly weigh myself. I can get very obsessive about the number on the scale. On the other hand, I can't track my progress pounds-wise. I plan to weigh myself again in about seven more weeks (if I don't visit a house/doctor with a scale, I will break down and buy one then).

I feel like not having the scale to obsess over is helping me to focus more on what really matters- making changes in what I eat and how I'm exercising. That is a big relief! But I'm dying to know if I'm making any progress yet! lol I almost broke down and went out to buy one last night, but ultimately decided against it. This can be so nerve wracking!

I don't think I'll buy one for a few more weeks, but I'm hoping my MIL has one when I visit this Friday!

Is anyone else doing this without a scale?
