Just by being here and reaching out, you're making progress! It's really helpful for me to plan in advance, sit down and plan several days worth of meals (this helps save money on groceries too, so I only buy what I need) and then I've got a template for my week that I can stick to. It's really important to find some buddies and have somebody to hold yourself accountable to. Definitely find out what motivates you and use it - keep visual representations in front of you as much as you can and keep fighting! You can do this!!!!!!

Well, I'm watching all those "new" people at the Ymca the last couple of weeks, just working so hard on their new year resolutions. And here I am, the habitual dieter that revisits the same old weight loss that needs to be! The one thing I have going for me is Sparkpeople, and that I finally got on the scale today at the Y and I didn't gain weight over the Christmas season. That's a miracle in itself! But, I did the work, I only ate moderately on Christmas day, and had regular meals on New Year's and for once controlled myself. This gives me hope that I'm finally learning something! I know that I will most likely always have a love affair with tacos, pizza, pasta, BUT, I don't have to eat these things on a regular basis. Maybe learn to treat myself every 6 months when I have seen a big weight loss. So that's the plan now. I'm gearing up to work really hard for the next 90 days and see if I can drop 30#. Have to start somewhere, and it only takes that first step! Right? Good luck to all you dieters!!!

Good Luck.

The best motivation and inspiration I can suggest is determining your big why. I have used this concept on this site many times in the past and it really works. You need to determine why you are here. If it is to JUST lose weight, think again. I am not here to lose weight primarily. Losing weight is just a benefit. Getting fit is a benefit.
You say that it is a NEW YEAR NEW YOU. Now determine what that really means. Eating clean and exercising every day is a good start, but it may not be enough to keep you going over the rough patches.
Now think WHY you want to eat clean-- what is it going to do for you. Why do you want to exercise every day-- what is it going to do for you.

Personally for me-- I want to be 100% healthy. Most people in the world stagnate at 60%(which is also what the medical profession deems as healthy). I don't want to be a statistic. A statistic is not going to help me be the best and healthiest aunt to my nieces and nephews. I am going far beyond just eating clean and exercising. Don't get me wrong-- those are two pieces and large pieces of the puzzle, but they are only two pieces.

You also have to get your mind in the game. There will be plenty of temptations.

hey everyone

So I haven't been on here for a while, I lost all motivation and have been having a hard time trying to re-find it, but here I am back and ready to start a new healthy lifestyle for me and my son, I am weighing in at 253 pounds which is scary for me as being in aus we do things by kgs so seeing that number is scary and makes me want to loose the weight more and not be that heavy anymore, I am not one for setting new year resolutions but this year I did and it is a simple one and it's this NEW YEAR NEW ME!!!!! and I am loving it going to be clean eating and exercising from tomorrow morning hoping to make some friends on here to help keep me motivated and to share all the success with :)
