Good to know that EELPIE or whatever your name is, I won't bother to respond in the future. And FTR the OP didn't disclose her medical condition in her post, only that she was struggling, and I offered some suggestions. But hey, thanks for talking down to me like I'm some schmuck that doesn't know what she's talking about, because I didn't have the full story. Peace out.

A few years can, indeed - plus with your medical condition, which I suspect has the most to do with it.

You can do what you can, but in the end you have to stop beating yourself up, and love the body you are in.

There are some people who lose a ton of weight - and have some unattractive lose skin...and sometimes they cannot afford the surgery - should they beat themselves up over it every day? Or rejoice in the fact that, indeed, they lost the weight, and are much healthier and leading a better life because of it?

yeah. thanks. eelpie. i get what you are trying to say but my belly roll just really bugs me! i didn't have such a big belly roll 3 years ago! can a few years wreck such havoc?

I know hunny - I just think you are a bit too hard on yourself.

And yes, you might be able to do a wee bit better - then again....maybe not. Medical conditions can change people's can a few years. My body is a bit different than it was 5 years ago (I am 44).

Yeah, I can do an hour of hardcore pilates 7 days a week, and maybe in 1 year I will have totally flat abs.


Or, I can say "You know what, toots, you look pretty good for your age and medical condition - enjoy the ride, rather than beat yourself up everyday."

Does that make sense to you?

so r u saying that i should give up on flat abs? to just settle with maintaining? but i know i can do better! bcoz i was in better shape 3 years ago. fyi i have been on dialysis for abt 10 years. i just know that i can do better!

I walk and do mat pilates regularly. I do both 2-4 times a week.

An fyi - she has serious, medical issues. I understand people giving advice - but there is a back story to this issue that will never be resolved with squats, lunges, etc.

EOWYN - are you working out at all? What is your carb intake like? Yes, it does boil down to calories in vs calories out, but the type of calories your putting in and how you get them out also matters. Do you lift weights at all? Muscle burns more calories than fat, even if you just add some lunger, squats, pushups, and situps to your daily routine, building some extra muscle may be what you need to crank through this plateau.

I would then maybe encourage you to get a referral, if possible, to a nutritionist/dietician, especially based on your medical needs. Not sure how that works in Malayasia but it may be the best place to start.

I snuck a peak at your nutrition tracker and it looks like you track quite sporadically. The last day I saw any food listed was May 20 and you only consumed 978 calories. Under SP guidelines, that's too few for a female; the minimum you should be consuming is 1200. I encourage you to start tracking 100% of every morsel you eat every day. Therein may lie the problem. Eating too little or too much is problematic.

if i recall correctly you have some medical issues going on. medical issues can both mask any results that you're actually achieving as well as slow down the rate which you can actually lose. talk to your doc about what you are doing now and get their opinion on where you should be. sometimes just maintaining where you are should be counted as good progress.

are you sure its fat on your belly, could it be that you need to tone up your muscle? Are you possibly bloated? There is also a genetic part to it too, it could be that you are just not designed to have a super flat tummy, try and work on what you have while loving it at the same time. Remember you don't know anything about the ways these women have gotten the abs the have, some might be just lucky, some might have used surgery or other means.

First of all there is no such thing as a perfect body. Try to switch things up with your diet and food. You didn't gain the added weight overnight so it's going to take time to get it off. Just keep going forward one step at a time and don't stop trying.

I have been trying to eat healthier and exercising for months but my belly fat is still there and my weight is about the same. I am getting very discouraged esp when I am surrounded by tiny, small women with perfect bodies! They don't even watch what they eat as much as I do but they are blessed with perfect bodies! It isn't fair!

I only can just keep on trying but I have a sinking feeling that I'm doomed to be fat no matter how hard I try! It's enough to make me cry!
